Job description

Are you currently working within an MSP and looking to specialise in cyber security?

Do you enjoy security, compliance, investigating threats and helping businesses stay protected, but don’t want to lose touch with the technical IT foundations that got you started?, This isn’t a security role where you’ll spend every day reviewing logs in isolation. You’ll be working closely with customers, helping improve their security posture, supporting Cyber Essentials projects, managing modern security platforms, and contributing to the development of our long-term cyber security strategy.

For the right person, this role has a clear progression path towards becoming our dedicated Security Engineer, helping to shape the security direction of both DISConsulting IT and our customers over the coming years.

As part of a small, ambitious team, you’ll have the opportunity to make a genuine impact and influence how security services are delivered.

What You’ll Do

  • Monitor, review and respond to security alerts across multiple customer environments
  • Support the delivery and continuous improvement of our managed cyber security services
  • Work with customers to improve their cyber security posture and security awareness
  • Assist with Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus preparation projects
  • Help develop security standards, policies and best practices across customer environments
  • Monitor and manage security platforms including: Huntress EDR, Huntress SIEM, Huntress ITDR, DNSFilter, CyberFOX AutoElevate and EasyDMARC
  • Support vulnerability management and remediation activities
  • Assist with penetration testing and security assessments
  • Participate in customer security review meetings both remotely and on-site
  • Work alongside the Service Desk team to resolve security-related incidents and escalations
  • Research emerging cyber threats, vulnerabilities and security trends
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of our Ultimate Security service
  • Attend industry events, vendor training and cyber security roadshows
  • Support the wider Service Desk when required, helping maintain excellent customer service standards

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working within an MSP environment
  • Strong interest in cyber security and a desire to build a long-term career in the sector
  • Good understanding of Microsoft 365 and Windows environments
  • Familiarity with cyber security concepts including endpoint protection, multi-factor authentication, email security, identity protection, vulnerability management and security monitoring
  • Good networking knowledge including Wi-Fi, VLANs and firewall fundamentals
  • Experience using PSA and RMM platforms such as HaloPSA and NinjaOne
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks
  • Strong organisational and documentation skills
  • Comfortable attending customer sites and conducting customer meetings
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable Experience

  • Previous exposure to security platforms such as EDR, PAM, RMM and Web content filtering
  • Security certifications such as Security+, SC-900, SC-200 or equivalent
  • Experience supporting Cyber Essentials initiatives
  • Experience conducting vulnerability reviews or security assessments
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Intune and Microsoft Defender

Benefits & conditions

  • Competitive salary (depending on experience)
  • Health and Wellbeing: Standing desk and walking pads available for office use
  • Health and Wellbeing: Access to BrightHR’s Wisdom Application
  • Equipment: Laptop and mobile phone supplied by company
  • 25 days holiday + bank holidays (plus earn up to 10 additional days)
  • Access to industry events and security-focused networking opportunities
  • Opportunity to influence and shape the future of cyber security services within a growing MSP
  • Training and support with certifications (Microsoft, vendor, networking)
  • Mileage paid at 2026 HMRC rate (0.55p)
