Job description

To install, replace, patch, configure and validate approved network infrastructure within a defined customer design and change plan, primarily across Cisco, Fortinet and other Cameo-supported technologies., * Install and replace switches, routers, firewalls, wireless access points and related network hardware.

  • Complete rack installation, patching, console connection, cable management and equipment labelling against approved designs.
  • Apply defined interface, port, IP and VLAN configuration using approved templates or implementation instructions.
  • Back up or validate configuration where authorised and confirm firmware/software compatibility before change.
  • Perform connectivity, link, interface and basic routing checks and record test evidence.
  • Diagnose standard physical-layer, port, patching, addressing and configuration faults.
  • Undertake controlled like-for-like replacement and confirm restoration of required services.
  • Follow change-control, access-control and rollback instructions and escalate any variance from the approved design.

Technical competence

  • Cisco and Fortinet hardware installation and basic CLI capability appropriate to assigned work.
  • Fundamentals of Ethernet, TCP/IP, subnetting, VLANs, trunks, PoE, routing and firewall interfaces.
  • Competent use of console tools, cable testers and approved network diagnostic commands.
  • Knowledge of SFP/SFP+ transceivers and fibre/copper cabling
  • Ability to interpret rack elevations, logical diagrams, port schedules and implementation plans.
  • Understanding of data centre power, cooling and structured cabling
  • Understanding of configuration control, service impact, rollback and the boundary between deployment and network design., * Represent Cameo professionally, wear approved uniform/PPE and comply with customer access, security and site-conduct requirements.
  • Attend within agreed service windows and communicate delays, risks, scope variance and completion clearly.
  • Follow Cameo and customer health-and-safety procedures, including required risk and dynamic risk assessments.
  • Only undertake work for which training, assessment, certification and authorisation are current and recorded.
  • Follow Cameo procedures, OEM guidance, customer standards and approved change or implementation documentation.
  • Protect customer devices, data, credentials and information; never access customer data unless expressly authorised.
  • Maintain full asset accountability and accurately record serial numbers, asset tags, locations, status and return references.
  • Complete tickets, job sheets, photographs, test results and customer sign-off accurately and in real time.
  • Use and maintain suitable tools, test equipment and PPE; maximise first-time completion without compromising safety, security or quality.
  • Escalate work outside competence, authority or approved scope and support Cameo’s reuse, recovery, recycling and waste-minimisation objectives.

Performance expectations

  • Complete assigned work safely, within scope and to the required technical and customer standard.
  • Maintain accurate first-time-right documentation, asset records and technical evidence.
  • Achieve strong first-time completion while escalating promptly when risk, scope or competence boundaries are reached.
  • Keep mandatory training, assessment and role-specific accreditations current.

Contribute to learning, corrective action and continuous improvement following incidents, repeat faults or customer feedback.

Progression

Progression is based on demonstrated technical competence, current accreditation, consistent standards, increased autonomy and successful assessment against the next engineering level or specialist pathway.

Pay: £30,000.00-£35,000.00 per year

Requirements

  • Cisco CCST/CCNA-level knowledge or current equivalent vendor accreditation appropriate to the role.
  • Fortinet Certified Fundamentals/Associate or current equivalent for Fortinet assignments.
  • Cameo Network Engineer practical assessment.
  • Relevant working-at-height or data-centre access qualifications where required.
  • This position will require the candidate to be SC cleared.

Experience and capability profile

Experience installing and supporting business network infrastructure in live customer environments. Must demonstrate disciplined change execution, troubleshooting and accurate configuration records. Ability to work at height and be physically capable of handling weights up to 30kg.

Technical authority boundary

Authorised to implement defined network work packages within certified competence. Network architecture changes, advanced routing/security policy, non-standard remediation and high-risk changes require L3/L4 technical approval.
