Job description
As an Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining and supporting critical electrical infrastructure, responding to faults and ensuring plant and equipment remain operational.
You will work closely with the wider engineering and facilities teams and play an important role in maintaining the reliability and availability of the site.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond promptly to electrical breakdowns and maintenance requests.
- Carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance.
- Diagnose electrical faults and implement appropriate corrective action.
- Maintain and inspect critical electrical systems and equipment.
- Work with electrical distribution systems, UPS systems and associated critical power infrastructure.
- Monitor the condition and performance of critical plant and equipment.
- Support electrical installation, upgrades and improvement works.
- Assist with testing, commissioning and validation of electrical equipment.
- Interpret electrical drawings, schematics, operating procedures and technical documentation.
- Complete maintenance records and engineering documentation accurately.
- Produce or contribute to risk assessments and method statements for planned works.
- Escalate significant technical issues to the relevant engineering or facilities management team.
- Support emergency response and standby requirements where applicable.
- Investigate incidents and electrical failures, identifying root causes and appropriate remedial actions.
- Ensure maintenance activities are completed in accordance with site procedures and agreed service levels.
- Maintain high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance.
- Work collaboratively with mechanical, facilities, BMS and other technical teams.
Requirements
The successful candidate will have:
- Completed an electrical apprenticeship or equivalent recognised electrical training.
- Level 3 electrical qualification, such as City & Guilds or equivalent.
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).
- Practical experience within electrical installation, maintenance or facilities engineering.
- Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and technical documentation.
- Understanding of safe working practices within an operational engineering environment.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently and respond effectively to faults and emergencies.
Previous experience in a data centre, critical environment or similar high-availability facility would be advantageous.

- IOSH / NEBOSH
- Emergency response / standby / call-out environments
The Ideal Candidate
We’re particularly interested in Electrical Engineers who have worked in environments where electrical reliability, resilience and safety are critical.
Candidates from the following backgrounds may be considered:

Experience within a data centre or other critical environment would be advantageous, but candidates from other technically demanding environments may also be considered where they have strong electrical maintenance and fault-finding experience., If you’re an experienced Electrical Engineer with the relevant qualifications and practical experience, we’d like to hear from you.
Benefits & conditions
- £45,000-£60,000 per annum
