Job description

You will be involved in some of the UK’s most innovative and intricate Datacentre projects. As our new Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be working as part of a team, you will be expected to manage your own project work, undertake detailed design to the required standards and maintain excellent levels of client service. Engineering within the Data Centre Facilities Team as a Mechanical Engineer is about developing highly resilient mechanical systems required to cool and support the critical processes within modern data centres, ensuring sustainability and reliability. You will be involved in the design and delivery of primary mechanical systems such as cooling, ventilation, automation & control, and a wide range of ancillary support systems. You will also develop a rich understanding of building physics, CFD and sustainable design solutions that will inform the Data Centre Facilities engineering design principles. You will be part of a team that has a strong focus on technical delivery and an excellent understanding of client care. You will become part of the Buildings department, which includes the Data Centre Facilities team, building services, structures, civil, facades, acoustics, and many other specialist teams, collaborating with all disciplines to enhance your engineering competence. By joining this industry, your skills and passion can help power the digital world, driving innovative solutions and making a lasting impact on our interconnected society., Represent Ramboll on datacentre projects leading your own discipline and, for suitably sized projects, also managing engineers of a complementary discipline. Complete detailed designs and supervise the work of others in this function. Inspire confidence internally and externally to strengthen client relationships. Manage time on projects to meet deadlines and complete assigned tasks. When acting as the project mechanical lead, coordinate tasks and allocate resources appropriately to meet deadlines.

Requirements

We seek an engineer with a proven and demonstrable track record in the discipline, ideally with previous experience working with mission critical systems within the datacentre industry or similar critical engineering environments (e.g., pharmaceutical, health care, enterprise datacentre installations, oil & gas). A qualified engineer holding a CIBSE/IET/IMechE Engineering Council accredited honours degree or an HNC in an applicable discipline, with commitment to continue higher education. Working towards or having achieved IEng or CEng status. Excellent communicator with the ability to simplify complex concepts. Interest in or experience using digital and parametric design tools.

Benefits & conditions

Opportunity to work on technically interesting and challenging MEP-lead projects. Investment in your development and supportive learning culture. Flexible work environment. 27 days annual leave plus bank holidays (may differ in Scotland and Ireland). Matched pension contributions. Private medical cover and life assurance.
