Job description

  • Analyze complex on-road and simulation data, including logs, video, sensor data, and metadata, to identify, categorize, and prioritize autonomous vehicle issues.
  • Correlate on-road issues with simulation scenarios to support reproduction, regression testing, and improved coverage while distinguishing between simulation tooling and autonomous vehicle stack issues.
  • Investigate root causes by navigating a large C++ autonomy codebase and tracing issues through relevant modules, including perception, planning, and controls.
  • Develop targeted C++ bug fixes and submit pull requests to the autonomy repository in accordance with established development, contribution, and code review standards.
  • Participate in code reviews, incorporating and providing technical feedback to maintain code quality and system stability.
  • Partner with Vehicle Operations, Simulation Operations, and engineering teams across perception, planning, controls, and infrastructure to understand, prioritize, route, and resolve issues.

Requirements

HireArt is helping our client find detail-oriented and proactive Triage Operator & SW Development to investigate autonomous vehicle issues across on-road and simulation environments and contribute bug fixes to a production C++ autonomy codebase.

In this role, you’ll combine technical triage with hands-on software development, analyzing vehicle and simulation data to identify root causes, trace issues through the autonomy stack, and implement targeted C++ fixes.

The ideal candidate has autonomous vehicle triage experience, strong C++ development skills, and the ability to analyze complex logs, sensor data, and simulation outputs. You’re a methodical problem solver who can independently investigate issues while collaborating effectively across operations and engineering teams., * A bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related engineering or STEM field

  • 5+ years of experience in data science or a related technical field
  • 2+ years of experience triaging autonomous vehicle issues
  • Hands-on C++ programming experience
  • Software development experience within a production environment
  • Experience investigating technical issues, performing root-cause analysis, and navigating complex software systems
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and cross-functional communication skills
  • Recent graduates with STEM degrees may also be considered

Nice-to-Have:

  • A master’s degree in a related field
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines or GitHub Actions
  • Knowledge of machine learning concepts

Commitment: This is a full-time, 6-month contract position staffed via HireArt. This position is onsite and available to candidates local to the Palo Alto, CA area.
