Job description

At Meta Reality Labs we aim to bring together the cross-disciplinary minds in one place to deliver on our mission: build tools that help people feel connected, anytime, anywhere. As a Sensor Electrical Engineer, you will be a member of our System EE Team for the next generation Smart Glasses; driving the sensor electrical design and development, working on leading edge technologies, and collaborating with the cross-functional teams to deliver on our HW platforms. You will be part of a tight-knit group of engineers working on innovation for Meta HW products (MR/VR, etc.)., 1. Collaborate with cross functional teams and external partners to evaluate and adopt emerging technologies and deliver sensor solutions in battery operated products

  1. Lead efforts to integrate new sensor modalities into high volume consumer products through all stages of product development (from prototyping, design through mass production)
  2. Leverage analog, circuit design, and optoelectronics fundamentals to build, debug, and validate prototypes
  3. Apply electrical engineering fundamentals to convert reference designs into custom product solutions. Design schematics, supervise board/Flexible Printed Circuit (FPC) layouts, and actively participate in design reviews to support sensors integration into product
  4. Optimize sensor architecture, sensor component selection and sensing system design
  5. Work closely with Contract Manufacturer / Joint Development Manufacturer CM/JDM resources to leverage their engineers and maximize the focus of internal resources on adding value to and differentiating our product
  6. Perform lab measurements and factory tests as needed to validate the design and resolve any issues
  7. Drive the resolution of technical issues by working with the cross-functional teams: Electrical, Mechanical, Software, Quality, Reliability as well as the various CM/JDM teams

Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or related field (or equivalent experience) with 6+ years work experience in Electrical Engineering
  2. 4+ years of experience in consumer electronics or related fields
  3. 4+ years of experience in embedded or mobile system design, sensing technologies and architecture, circuit design, board bring-up and product NPI experience
  4. Experience leading technical teams, cross-functional groups and vendors
  5. Experience with hands-on hardware bring-up, debugging, and functional verification, 1. Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
  6. Experience in modeling, developing test scripts and firmware
  7. Demonstrated experience to integrate sensing technologies such as optical sensors, capacitive touch sensors or motion sensors in a product
  8. Demonstrated experience to bring new technologies to product
  9. Experience communicating novel concepts to broad audience succinctly and in simple terms
  10. Experience performing bench level power measurements coupled with analytical experience
  11. Knowledge of the relationship between physical layout and electrical performance
  12. Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
  13. Proficiency with data collection and analysis tools including JMP, Python, LabView, MATLAB and other scripting languages
  14. Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
