Job description

Once a new software partner signs with Merchant Focus, you will own the process of getting them from signed agreement to integrated, live, and processing payments as quickly and smoothly as possible.

You do not need to be a full-time software developer. You do need to be technically curious, comfortable working with APIs and developers, and able to understand technical concepts well enough to troubleshoot problems and explain solutions clearly.

You’ll work directly with software developers, business owners, sales, underwriting, operations, and our technology partners throughout the integration process.

Your primary measure of success is simple: get partners successfully integrated, launched, and processing payments.

Responsibilities

  • Payment Integrations - Primary Focus
  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for newly signed software and ISV partners.

Partner Success

  • Own the partner journey from signed agreement through first live transaction.
  • Maintain regular communication with partners throughout implementation.
  • Keep integrations moving forward and make sure both internal and external teams know the next steps.
  • Identify roadblocks before they become launch delays.
  • Coordinate across sales, underwriting, operations, and technology to resolve partner issues.
  • Build strong relationships with both technical and business stakeholders.
  • Help continuously improve Merchant Focus’s integration, onboarding, and launch processes based on partner feedback.

Technical Sales Support

  • Join sales calls when prospects or their developers have technical integration questions.
  • Help prospects understand how embedded payments can fit into their existing software.
  • Conduct technical demonstrations and walk developers through our integration capabilities.
  • Help translate technical requirements between prospective partners and our internal teams.

Self-Sourced Opportunities - Optional Upside

This is not a quota-carrying sales position.

However, when you have availability between active integrations, you’ll have the opportunity to develop software partnerships of your own.

Employees who choose to do this can earn additional bonuses and recurring residual compensation, but self-sourcing new business is not a core performance requirement of the role.

  • Own payment integrations from technical kickoff through production launch.
  • Guide developers through API documentation, authentication, webhooks, payment flows, tokenization, and related integration concepts.
  • Help partners configure sandbox environments and move successfully from testing into production.
  • Troubleshoot integration issues and work with partners to identify solutions quickly.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and technology partners when additional technical or development resources are needed.
  • Help partners determine the appropriate payment architecture and workflows for their software and customers.
  • Support integrations involving card payments, ACH, recurring payments, stored payment methods, platform fees, reporting, and other embedded payment functionality.
  • Track integrations and proactively identify issues that could delay a launch.

Requirements

Ideal candidates will have experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Payment processing or fintech
  • APIs and software integrations
  • SaaS or software technology
  • Technical implementation
  • Solutions engineering
  • Technical account management
  • Customer or partner success
  • B2B technology sales

You should be comfortable reviewing API documentation and understanding concepts such as:

  • REST APIs
  • JSON
  • API keys and authentication
  • Webhooks
  • Sandbox and production environments
  • Payment and transaction workflows

Programming experience is helpful but not required.

You do not need to be the developer writing the integration. You need to be capable of working alongside developers, understanding what they’re trying to accomplish, helping troubleshoot issues, and bringing in additional technical resources when necessary.
