Job description
Synergy Business Innovation & Solutions, Inc. is seeking a UI/UX Specialist to support the United States Coast Guard (USCG). This role bridges design and functionality by leading the end-to-end creation of user-centered application interfaces, from user research and wireframes through interactive prototypes and production-ready UI.
You will work closely with developers, engineers, and product owners in an Agile/Scrum environment to transform complex requirements and data-heavy operational workflows into intuitive, performant digital experiences.
Key Responsibilities

Design end-to-end user experiences, including research, information architecture, wireframes, interactive prototypes, and production-ready UI.

Translate complex, data-heavy operational workflows into clear and efficient interfaces.

Create and maintain shared design systems and reusable component libraries across multiple applications.
-
Partner with developers to ensure designs are implemented accurately, providing specifications, assets, and design tokens that align with frontend frameworks.

Conduct user research and usability testing with clients and end users.
-
Incorporate research and testing findings into iterative design improvements.
-
Gather, clarify, and document design requirements from clients and stakeholders.

Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies throughout the software development lifecycle., * Synergy prohibits the use of AI or other tools to assist with interview responses unless explicit permission is granted.
Requirements

Experience designing enterprise, operational, or data-dense applications.
-
Proficiency with a modern design and prototyping tool such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD.

Strong foundation in:

Interaction design

Information architecture

Visual/UI design

Experience creating and maintaining design systems and reusable component libraries.

Solid understanding of HTML, CSS, and responsive design principles.

Ability to communicate effectively with development teams.

Experience conducting user research and usability testing.

Familiarity with the software development lifecycle and Agile methodologies.
-
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
-
U.S. citizenship and Public Trust required.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience designing for Angular applications and familiarity with Angular Material or similar component frameworks.

Ability to implement frontend designs directly using HTML/CSS/SCSS and work with Angular templates.

Experience designing cross-platform desktop applications using Electron, Tauri, or similar technologies.

Understanding of desktop-native interaction patterns.

Experience designing geospatial, mapping, dashboard, or complex data-visualization interfaces.

Experience using AI-assisted design or prototyping tools.
