Software Developer

The Software Developer will be responsible for developing and maintaining software applications with a strong emphasis on geospatial technologies, working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions., Design, code, test, and debug software applications

Develop and maintain GIS applications using ESRI technologies

Collaborate with team members on software design and code reviews

Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code

Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle

Troubleshoot and resolve software defects

Document technical specifications and maintain software documentation

Participate in Agile development processes including daily stand-ups and sprint planning

Implement security and data protection solutions

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Development, GIS, or related field

3+ years of professional software development experience

Proven experience with GIS software development

Experience with version control systems (preferably Git)

Required Skills and Competencies:

Proficiency in one or more programming languages (Java, Python, C++, or similar)

Strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles

Experience with relational databases and SQL

Demonstrated experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS), specifically:

Commercial Joint Mapping Toolkit (CJMTK)

ESRI ArcGIS suite of commercial software developer components

ArcGIS Runtime, ArcGIS Server

Knowledge of software development methodologies and best practices

Familiarity with web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

Experience with testing frameworks and methodologies

Understanding of software security principles

Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

Must be able to work on-site at Stennis Space Center, MS

Clearance Requirement:

Secret security clearance

Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)

Knowledge of microservices architecture

Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)

Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines

Experience with Agile development methodologies

Knowledge of DevOps practices

Federal government contract experience

Security clearance or ability to obtain one

Experience with mobile application development

Advanced GIS analysis and modeling skills

Experience with spatial databases

Knowledge of cartographic principles
