Job description
We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded IT Director to lead our technology function and drive the delivery of a secure, innovative and business-focused IT strategy. The role could be based at any of our 7 offices across the region (Poole, Dorchester, Bournemouth, Blandford, Wareham, Swanage, Crewkerne). An on-site presence is required but hybrid working will also be considered.
This is a senior leadership position offering the opportunity to shape the future of technology across the firm, working closely with Partners and senior stakeholders to ensure our systems, infrastructure and applications support business growth, operational excellence and exceptional client service.
The successful candidate will combine strategic vision with hands-on leadership, bringing deep experience of technology management within a law firm or professional services environment.
As IT Director, you will be responsible for the development, implementation and delivery of the firm’s technology strategy. You will oversee day-to-day IT operations, cyber security, supplier management, business-critical projects and technology investment, ensuring that services remain reliable, secure and aligned with organisational objectives.
Key focuses of the role will be the ownership and ongoing development of our Practice Management System, Actionstep, driving efficiencies, innovation and continuous improvement across the business. You will also play a leading role in identifying emerging technologies, including AI and automation solutions, that can enhance service delivery and support the firm’s long-term growth.

Requirements
Do you have experience in Project management?, * Minimum five years’ experience in a senior IT leadership position (IT Manager level or above) within a law firm or professional services organisation.
- Strong strategic planning and commercial awareness.
- Proven experience managing and developing high-performing teams.
- Experience managing technology budgets, suppliers and outsourced service providers.
- Strong project and programme management capability.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to translate technical concepts into clear business language.
- Experience leading digital transformation and technology change initiatives.
- Strong customer service focus and commitment to delivering excellent user experiences.
Technical Expertise
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration and optimisation.
- Experience with ITIL and Cyber Essentials frameworks.
- Knowledge of cyber security best practices and risk management.
- Experience with legal technology platforms including Actionstep (or equivalent Practice Management Systems), Mimecast, FormEvo, Arken
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and process improvement skills., * IT management: 5 years (required)
- Law or Professional Services: 5 years (required)
- Practice management software: 4 years (required)
