We are seeking an experienced, hands-on IT Systems Administrator to independently manage the technology infrastructure of a fast-paced creative fabrication studio in the South Bay.

This person will serve as the primary owner of our servers, network, cybersecurity, backups, disaster recovery, computers, accounts, and internal technology systems. The ideal candidate can work independently, proactively identify risks, respond calmly to urgent issues, and keep our technology reliable, secure, documented, and ready to support daily operations and client projects.

Responsibilities

  • Independently manage the company’s day-to-day IT operations and technology infrastructure.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all IT and technical support needs.
  • Maintain and secure company servers, networks, virtual machines, network equipment, cameras, computers, and related infrastructure.
  • Monitor system health, performance, capacity, connectivity, and availability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve computer, software, printer, network, server, and connectivity issues.
  • Lead system recovery following outages, power interruptions, equipment failures, or security incidents.
  • Own the company’s backup and recovery strategy, including regularly verifying backups and testing restoration procedures.
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity procedures for critical technology.
  • Manage cybersecurity practices, including access controls, permissions, patching, endpoint protection, system updates, passwords, and network security.
  • Identify technology risks and communicate vulnerabilities and recommended corrective actions to leadership.
  • Set up and maintain employee computers, workstations, accounts, permissions, and required software.
  • Maintain internal services, including software license servers, file and project storage, hosted applications, and other business systems.
  • Maintain accurate IT documentation, system configurations, recovery procedures, credentials, and equipment inventory.
  • Plan for equipment replacement, system upgrades, licensing, capacity, and future technology needs.
  • Manage outside IT vendors when specialized assistance is required while retaining responsibility for the issue and its resolution.
  • Support project teams with networking, electronics, software, testing, setup, and troubleshooting as needed.
  • Research and recommend hardware, software, equipment, security, and infrastructure improvements.
  • Identify opportunities to automate and streamline internal technology processes.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience independently administering servers, networks, backups, security, and end-user systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of network infrastructure, virtual machines, computer hardware, operating systems, user access, and system recovery.
  • Experience developing, maintaining, and testing backup and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Working knowledge of cybersecurity best practices, patch management, endpoint protection, permissions, and access controls.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to independently resolve both routine and critical technical issues.
  • Ability to prioritize urgent outages and security concerns while managing ongoing maintenance and support needs.
  • Strong organization, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to explain technical issues clearly to employees with varying levels of technical experience.
  • Comfortable working in an active office, warehouse, and fabrication environment.
  • Experience supporting a small or midsized organization as its primary IT resource is strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting creative, production, fabrication, engineering, or project-based teams is a plus.
