Job description

The Information Security Division is a four-person team responsible for strengthening the County’s security posture by promoting security awareness and education, maintaining governance, risk, and compliance activities, leading incident response and business continuity efforts, and managing threats and vulnerabilities across County systems.

Requirements

The Network Analyst II requires a solid foundation in cybersecurity principles and a genuine passion for protecting digital environments. This position blends technical expertise, analytical thinking, and personal drive, enabling the County to thrive in the fast-paced, ever-evolving world of cybersecurity., * Provide appropriate customer service under tight deadlines.

  • Analyze technical problems and provide logical and effective solutions.
  • Ensure accuracy, with a strong aptitude for identifying patterns, anomalies, and potential threats.
  • Act proactively, explore new tools, techniques, and emerging threats.
  • Adapt to pivot quickly in response to changing priorities or new information.

Ability to:

  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing, including communicating technical information to non-technical users.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with individuals and groups who come from diverse backgrounds and represent members of the public, coworkers, and/or vendors.
  • Coordinate and communicate effectively between different infrastructure teams, customers, vendors, regional, and local support to achieve superior results and overcome operational challenges.
  • Communicate effectively, able to clearly explain technical findings and security recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Be self-motivated, capable of working independently with minimal supervision, while also being a collaborative team player.
  • Commit to continuous learning, actively pursuing certifications, training, or hands-on experience to stay ahead in the field.
  • Adhere to Washington County and team core values, processes, and procedures., * A Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, business administration, or related field; AND two (2) years of experience providing professional-level information technology analysis and support; OR
  • An Associate’s Degree in computer science, business administration, or related field; AND four (4) years of experience providing professional-level information technology analysis and support; OR
  • Six (6) years of experience providing professional-level technology analysis and support.

Any of the following certifications may substitute for one (1) year of required education. Two or more certifications may substitute for up to two (2) years of the education requirement:

  • MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer)
  • MCSA (Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator)
  • Junos (Juniper) network certifications
  • CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Administrator)
  • NEC enterprise voice solutions certifications
  • VoIP-related system engineering certifications for other major manufacturers
  • AVST Voice mail system certifications
  • Certified Computer Information Security Professional
  • Checkpoin
  • EMC storage solutions
  • Other certifications from major enterprise network solutions providers

Additional Requirements

  • Possession of a driver’s license valid in the State of Oregon and an acceptable driving record per Washington County policy.
  • Selected candidate will be required to participate in an extensive background check.
