Developer

This is a hands-on development role building out our Commercial Operating Platform. We work in an AI-first environment - code is written largely with the assistance of Claude, though we’re happy for you to use other tools if you prefer - primarily in TypeScript and PLpgSQL, with a smaller amount of JavaScript.

There’s substantial development ahead. The focus is on designing and building new workflows and features across the business, alongside API integration across our commercial systems, front-end and back-end development, and building securely from the outset.

You’ll sit within the IT team, but your role is development, not end-user support. You’ll use AI tools to build and ship at speed, owning the quality, accuracy and security of everything that reaches production.

What You’ll Do

• Design and build new workflows and features in TypeScript for different areas of the business, taking them from a broadly defined goal through to working, deployed software
• Develop, test and ship features in TypeScript and PLpgSQL (and some JavaScript), working within our CI/CD pipelines
• Use AI development tools (e.g. Claude) to accelerate delivery, reviewing and verifying all AI-generated output before it’s merged or deployed, and flagging risks or blockers early
• Build and maintain integrations between our commercial systems (e.g. Dynamics ERP, Shopify, Supabase/Postgres, Microsoft 365) via APIs and data ingestion
• Work across both front-end and back-end, including how new features are designed and fit together
• Keep the codebase clean and well-structured as it grows - writing documentation alongside code, improving maintainability and reducing technical debt
• Identify and implement security improvements, applying secure development practices around authentication, authorisation, access control and data handling
• Write clear commit messages and tests, take part in code review, and support data quality, auditability and approval workflows

Do you have experience in TypeScript?, * Working knowledge of TypeScript and JavaScript, with willingness to build strength in PLpgSQL / PostgreSQL

• Understanding of relational databases and SQL
• Familiarity with Git and CI/CD pipelines
• Demonstrable, hands-on use of AI coding tools, with good judgement on when to trust, test or reject their output
• Understanding of API concepts and integrating systems via APIs
• A security-conscious mindset and awareness of common web application risks
• Strong attention to detail and genuine commitment to quality and accuracy
• Clear written communication and effectiveness in a small, fast-moving team
• Comfortable taking a broadly defined goal and seeing it through to production with limited supervision - while knowing when to ask or escalate
• Roughly 1-3 years’ experience, or strong demonstrable project ownership at a comparable level
• Curious, fast-learning, and energised by a changing, AI-first environment
• Takes ownership - moves quickly, never at the expense of correctness or security
• Collaborative, open to feedback, and willing to give it
