Job description

Our client is seeking an experienced Interim IT Manager to join their business on an urgent contract basis. This is a hands-on role focused on stabilising and taking ownership of an existing IT environment following an unexpected gap in internal IT leadership. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing the current infrastructure, recovering operational control where required, resolving outstanding issues, and establishing a reliable IT foundation for the business moving forward. This is an excellent opportunity for a broad-skilled IT professional who enjoys working across infrastructure, support, systems administration, and business-critical technology environments.

Contract DetailsInitial contract length: Approximately 3 monthsPotential for extension or early completion depending on business requirementsOutside IR35 status to be confirmedOn-site role, 5 days per week preferred - Hampshire4-day on-site arrangement may be considered for the right candidateImmediate start required Key ResponsibilitiesAssess and document the current IT landscapeRestore operational control across business-critical systems and infrastructureRecover and manage system access, permissions, passwords, and administrative accountsTroubleshoot and resolve infrastructure, server, networking, and end-user support issuesProvide hands-on support across hardware, software, printers, cabling, and connectivityManage relationships with external IT support providers and vendorsEnsure business continuity across key operational systemsIdentify risks, prioritise remediation activities, and implement improvementsProvide recommendations for future IT strategy and longer-term support requirements

Requirements

Required ExperienceProven experience in an IT Manager, Infrastructure Manager, or Senior IT Support capacityStrong Microsoft technology background, including:Microsoft OfficeMicrosoft ExchangeWindows Server environmentsActive DirectoryMicrosoft 365 administrationExperience supporting both infrastructure and end-user environmentsAbility to work independently and take ownership in a recovery or stabilisation scenarioStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsComfortable operating in a broad and varied IT environment Desirable ExperienceExposure to any of the following technologies or systems would be beneficial:AnyDeskSage 200HubSpotCAD design applicationsCCTV and access control systemsExcel-heavy business environmentsGeneral server, desktop, and network support
