Job description
An opportunity has arisen for a Hardware Engineer to join a global manufacturer of electronic test and measurement equipment used across industrial, utility and infrastructure markets.
Working within a multidisciplinary engineering team, you’ll contribute to the design, development and validation of electronic hardware for both new and existing products. This role offers involvement throughout the full product lifecycle, from concept and prototyping through to production support.
The Role
- Design analogue and digital electronic circuits for embedded and measurement-based products
- Produce schematics and support PCB design activities using Altium or similar ECAD tools
- Conduct laboratory testing, validation and debugging of hardware designs
- Support prototype builds and product integration activities
- Investigate and resolve hardware and production issues
- Create and maintain technical documentation, design records and BOMs
- Collaborate with firmware, mechanical, manufacturing and quality teams
- Support component obsolescence and product improvement projects
- Participate in design reviews and contribute technical solutions
Requirements
- Degree, HND/HNC or equivalent experience in Electronic Engineering
- Commercial experience in electronic product design
- Strong analogue and digital circuit design skills
- Experience with signal measurement, conditioning or instrumentation electronics
- PCB design experience using Altium or similar ECAD tools
- Hands-on laboratory testing, fault-finding and debugging experience
- Understanding of EMC principles and design for manufacture

- Aerospace or defence electronics
- SPICE, MATLAB, Simulink or similar simulation tools
- DFM, DFT and FMEA methodologies
- Knowledge of IEC or ISO engineering standards
