Job description
- Develop and maintain automated test suites for UI and API applications to support functionality, reliability and quality across releases.
- Plan, estimate, prioritise and coordinate testing activities, and create test strategies, plans and structured test cases.
- Develop and improve automation tools, frameworks and architecture, including CI/CD and DevOps.
- Deliver functional testing across UI, APIs and databases, and generate accurate test data for diverse scenarios, including edge cases and negative paths.
- Carry out regression, cross-browser and non-functional testing, including load, performance, security, OAT and post-deployment monitoring.
- Identify, document and track bugs; communicate their impact to stakeholders; conduct root-cause analysis; and recommend workable solutions.
- Produce QA documentation, processes, requirements, specifications and technical design documents, and maintain test cases centrally in Testmo.
- Collaborate with technical teams and stakeholders, provide technical guidance, and contribute to post-live assessments and continuous improvement.

Requirements
- Strong knowledge of software development, software testing and new product development principles and processes, including planning testing for complex systems.
- Strong knowledge of testing frameworks and techniques, including BDD, TDD and the Page Object Model.
- Strong knowledge of C#, JavaScript, TypeScript and JSON, and tools and platforms including Playwright, Git and Node.js.
- Solid understanding of backend testing, including REST or SOAP APIs, Postman and SQL database testing.
- Working knowledge of CI/CD, cloud platforms, DevOps and non-functional testing approaches and tools such as JMeter, LoadRunner, penetration testing, security testing, OAT and UAT.
- Experience using tools to automate testing of email and SMS journeys, including verifying delivery, content and timing within a test automation framework.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical and decision-making skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities and delivery commitments.
- Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, including the ability to translate technical testing findings into practical improvements for business and consumer outcomes.

This is a permanent, 37.5-hour-per-week role based at Future Space, UWE, in Bristol, with hybrid remote working. The salary is £39,000-£46,000, depending on experience.
