Job description
The Electrical Engineer will design and oversee power distribution systems for large-scale data center projects in Texas. Responsibilities include equipment specifications, electrical calculations, design reviews, and technical support through construction and commissioning. A PE license and experience with data centers or large industrial facilities are required.
- Major data center projects, * Develop and review electrical designs for medium- and low-voltage power distribution systems.
- Prepare single-line diagrams, electrical layouts, equipment specifications, schematics, and design calculations.
- Specify and evaluate switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS systems, and related electrical equipment.
- Perform or review load calculations, cable sizing, grounding designs, short-circuit studies, protective device coordination, and arc-flash studies.
- Review designs for reliability, redundancy, constructability, and compliance with applicable codes and project requirements.
- Coordinate with mechanical, civil, structural, architectural, and utility teams.
- Provide technical guidance to clients, contractors, equipment vendors, and project stakeholders.
- Review equipment submittals, respond to RFIs, and resolve electrical design and construction issues.
- Support site inspections, installation reviews, equipment testing, energization, and commissioning.
- Contribute to project scope development, schedules, estimates, and engineering deliverables.
- Maintain quality standards and support the development of junior engineers and designers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Experience designing electrical power distribution systems for large data centers, industrial facilities, or comparable complex projects.
- Strong understanding of medium- and low-voltage systems, equipment selection, grounding, and electrical protection.
- Familiarity with NEC, applicable IEEE standards, and electrical safety requirements.
- Experience with electrical analysis software such as ETAP, SKM, or EasyPower.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, or comparable design tools.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across engineering and construction teams.
