Job description

Our client in the utilities and energy sector is seeking a Senior Performance Tester to join a long-term technology initiative focused on enterprise application performance, reliability, and scalability. This position will play a key role in validating system performance, identifying bottlenecks, and ensuring applications meet business and technical expectations before deployment.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in performance testing, test automation, monitoring tools, and application performance analysis, along with experience supporting modern development and deployment practices.

Responsibilities: Design, develop, and execute comprehensive performance, load, stress, and scalability tests

Analyze application performance metrics and identify root causes of bottlenecks

Utilize performance testing tools such as JMeter, LoadRunner, or Gatling

Monitor system behavior using tools including AppDynamics, Dynatrace, Prometheus, Grafana, or similar technologies

Collaborate with development, QA, infrastructure, and business teams to resolve performance-related issues

Create detailed test plans, test scripts, performance baselines, and test result reports

Support API performance testing for REST and SOAP services

Participate in CI/CD processes using tools such as Jenkins and Git

Review server logs, system metrics, and database performance data to troubleshoot issues

Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on application performance and reliability

Execute performance testing activities throughout the software development lifecycle

Develop test scenarios that simulate real-world production workloads

Evaluate system behavior under varying load conditions

Document findings and provide recommendations for optimization

Work closely with project stakeholders to establish performance benchmarks and success criteria

Assist with test environment planning, test data management, and execution coordination

Support performance validation efforts for enterprise GIS and mapping-related applications

Requirements

3+ years of hands-on experience in software quality assurance and performance testing

Strong experience with performance testing tools such as JMeter, LoadRunner, and/or Gatling

Experience using application performance monitoring and observability tools

Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and version control systems

Experience testing REST and SOAP APIs

Knowledge of database concepts and server administration fundamentals

Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to interpret complex performance data, graphs, and logs

Experience with ESRI and/or GIS technologies is highly preferred

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field

Equivalent combination of education and practical experience will be considered

Skills, experience, and other compensable factors will be considered when determining pay rate. The pay range provided in this posting reflects a W2 hourly rate; other employment options may be available that may result in pay outside of the provided range.
