Database Administrator

Soft Tech Consulting is seeking a highly motivated, self-directed individual to fill the role of a Database Administrator for one of our clients. The designated candidate for this position will join a collaborative team environment, providing support and expertise necessary toward the successful delivery of the project deliverables, and provide effective communication to all levels of staff for reporting status/progress. The place of performance for this contract is in Washington, DC. Responsibilities:

• Administer Oracle and Postgres databases
• Debug Oracle and Postgres databases
• Patch and upgrade Oracle and Postgres databases
• Conduct performance tuning on Oracle and Postgres databases
• Resolve issues with Oracle and Postgres databases

• Bachelor’s Degree in any related field
• Minimum of 5 years of DBA experience.
• Experience administering Oracle or Postgres databases (ideally both)
• Experience with AWS/RDS/S3/DMS
• Experience working with and debugging Oracle/Postgres databases
• Experience with Oracle/Postgres database patching and upgrades
• Experience conducting performance tuning on Oracle/Postgres databases
• Experience with Oracle/Postgres database backup/recovery tools and techniques, such as Oracle RMAN and Flashback
• Experience with restoring Oracle/Postgres databases
• Experience configuring Oracle/Postgres databases to meet federal security guidelines
• Experience identifying and resolving performance or availability issues in databases
• Experience providing guidance and support to application developers in the creation and deployment of DML or DDL scripts in support of application maintenance or deployment
• Databases (Intermediate)
• AWS RDS Configuration (Intermediate)
• Must be able to communicate effectively both verbal and written.
• Must be able to work independently, with minimal oversight.
