Job description
n
Own end-to-end integration architecture for the client engagement: define integration patterns, governance standards, and reusable design frameworks across SAP CPI, APIM, B2B-TPM, Integration Advisor, and AEM.
\n
Lead design and review of complex iFlows, message mappings, and Groovy-based UDFs; set standards for error handling, retry/idempotency, monitoring, and alerting across the landscape.
\n
Architect and govern API strategy on SAP API Management (APIM) - API proxies, policies, rate limiting, versioning, and developer-portal exposure.
\n
Design and oversee B2B/Trading Partner Management (TPM) integrations - partner onboarding, EDI/AS2/X12/EDIFACT flows, and B2B monitoring dashboards.
\n
Model and maintain B2B message choreographies in SAP Integration Advisor, including MIG/MAG definitions and mapping guidelines shared across partners.
\n
Design event-driven integration flows using SAP Advanced Event Mesh (AEM), including topic/queue architecture, event schemas, and pub-sub patterns at scale.
\n
Architect integration between S/4HANA (or ECC) and downstream/upstream systems via IDoc, BAPI, RFC, and OData, ensuring data consistency and performance under high transaction volumes.
\n
Define and enforce authentication and security architecture across all integration touchpoints - OAuth 2.0 (client credentials, SAML Bearer Assertion), certificate-based mutual TLS, principal propagation, SFTP key exchange, and secure parameter/credential storage.
\n
Act as the technical point of contact for architecture reviews, design walkthroughs, and escalations with the client’s team.
\n
Mentor mid-level and junior integration developers; review their designs and code for adherence to architectural and security standards.
\n
Partner with infrastructure/BTP administrators on subaccount design, Cloud Foundry space strategy, connectivity (Cloud Connector, VPN), and capacity planning.
Requirements
We are hiring a Senior SAP Integration Architect to own the integration architecture for the client’s environment. This is a client-facing, technically hands-on architect role responsible for designing, governing, and evolving a large-scale, high-throughput SAP integration landscape spanning SAP CPI (Integration Suite), SAP APIM, B2B trading partner integrations (TPM), SAP Integration Advisor, S/4HANA, and Advanced Event Mesh (AEM). The ideal candidate has deep, first-hand implementation experience - not just tool familiarity - and can speak fluently to the internals of authentication protocols, message security, and integration design trade-offs at a level only a seasoned practitioner would have., n
6+ years of hands-on SAP integration experience, with at least 3+ years specifically on SAP CPI / Integration Suite in an architect or lead design capacity.
\n
Deep expertise in SAP CPI: iFlow design patterns (splitter, gather, multicast, content enricher, exception subprocess), Groovy scripting and custom UDFs, XSLT and graphical message mapping, and value mapping.
\n
Strong command of CPI adapters and protocols: SOAP, REST/OData, IDoc, JDBC, SFTP, AS2, and Mail, including adapter-level security configuration.
\n
Working knowledge of SAP BTP and Cloud Foundry: subaccount and space architecture, entitlements, Cloud Connector setup, destinations, and Neo-to-Cloud Foundry migration patterns.
\n
Practical experience with SAP API Management (APIM): API proxy design, policy chains (quota, spike arrest, OAuth validation, JSON/XML transformation), and API product/versioning strategy.
\n
Hands-on experience with B2B/Trading Partner Management (TPM), including partner profile setup, EDI standards (X12, EDIFACT), AS2 connectivity, and B2B monitoring/reconciliation.
\n
Experience with SAP Integration Advisor for B2B mapping guideline (MAG) and message implementation guideline (MIG) authoring and version governance.
\n
Exposure to SAP Advanced Event Mesh (AEM) / event-driven architecture - topic hierarchies, queues, event schemas, and pub-sub design for high-volume, low-latency scenarios.
\n
Integration experience with S/4HANA or ECC via IDoc, BAPI, RFC, and OData services, including performance tuning for high-volume interfaces.
\n
Expert-level, first-principles understanding of authentication and security mechanisms used across these platforms: OAuth 2.0 grant types (client credentials, SAML Bearer Assertion, JWT bearer), mutual TLS/client certificate authentication, principal propagation, SAP Cloud Identity Services (IAS/IPS) integration, SSH/SFTP key-based auth, and secure credential/keystore management within Integration Suite.
\n
Ability to diagnose and resolve niche, production-grade issues - certificate chain and trust store problems, token expiry/refresh edge cases, adapter-level TLS handshake failures, and message-level non-repudiation/signing issues - the kind of detail that distinguishes a senior architect from a general practitioner.
\n
Strong grasp of integration governance: naming conventions, environment promotion (Dev/QA/Prod), version control (Git-enabled CPI packages), and CI/CD for integration artifacts.
\n
Excellent client-facing communication skills; comfortable leading architecture discussions directly with client stakeholders., SAP Certified Application Associate - SAP Integration Suite (or equivalent CPI certification).
\n
Experience with SAP PO/PI or webMethods migration to SAP Integration Suite (Neo or Cloud Foundry).
\n
Exposure to observability tooling for CPI (Alert Rules, Message Processing Dashboards, custom monitoring via APIs).
