The Assistant Director, Signal Data Manager is responsible for leading the administration, coordination, analysis, and reporting of operational, maintenance, testing, inspection, and compliance data for the Signal Department. This position ensures the integrity, accuracy, and accessibility of critical departmental data to support regulatory compliance, performance measurement, asset management, and strategic decision-making. By providing system-wide visibility into maintenance and operational metrics, the Assistant Director supports departmental leadership in optimizing reliability, efficiency, and continuous improvement across signal operations., * Manage and maintain Communications and Signal (C&S) operational and maintenance data across systems such as Enterprise Asset Management (EAM)/Hexagon, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and completeness of records used for maintenance and compliance tracking.
- Develop and distribute reports, dashboards, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and analytical summaries to support operational performance, regulatory compliance, and management decision-making.
- Track and monitor Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) required inspections, testing cycles, audit findings, training compliance, and corrective actions to ensure departmental compliance standards are maintained.
- Coordinate with field supervisors, managers, inspectors, and training personnel to resolve data discrepancies, improve reporting processes, and support operational initiatives.
- Support process improvements, system enhancements, and centralized tracking tools to improve efficiency, asset reliability, resource planning, and overall departmental performance.
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Comply with all policies and standards
- May be required to work hours outside regular work hours, as applicable
- Observes the work performed by contractors, as applicable
- Reviews invoices and approve them if the work has contractual standards, as applicable
- Addresses performance issues with the contractor, when possible, as applicable
- Escalates issues to other parties when needed, as applicable
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) in Data Analytics, Engineering, Computer Science, Transportation Management, or a related technical field. Demonstrated equivalent experience, education, and/or technical credentials to include an additional four (4) year of related experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in operations or maintenance within a transportation or technical systems environment.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience managing professional staff and/or projects.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data visualization/reporting tools.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Experience with data management, analysis, or reporting in a technical or transportation environment.
- Strong knowledge of databases, reporting tools, and maintenance management systems
- Familiarity with Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) systems; Hexagon experience preferred
- Familiarity with FRA reporting, signal testing records, and asset management systems.
- Experience building dashboards or automated reporting tools.

- Actual salary offers may vary based on individual work experience. The annual salary range is subject to change and may be modified at the company’s discretion.
- This position requires a driver’s license. Employees driving company vehicles will be subject to License Monitoring and must complete defensive driver training once every three years for current MTA drivers; or within 180 days of hire or transfer for an employee entering an authorized driving position.
- Current employee applicants should be in their current position 12 months prior to starting a new role and must possess a satisfactory work history,
- including attendance and discipline record.
