Job description

Agility Partners is seeking a qualified Senior Mainframe Developer to fill an open position with one of our clients. This role offers the opportunity to serve as a mainframe subject matter expert while designing, developing, testing, and supporting critical enterprise applications. The ideal candidate will bring deep COBOL and mainframe expertise, experience with CICS and SAS, and a strong understanding of software development best practices. Design, develop, test, and implement mainframe applications and new features using COBOL, CICS, SAS, and related mainframe technologies. \n
Serve as a technical expert on an Agile squad, contributing to architecture, solution design, development, testing, code reviews, and technical standards. \n
Support mainframe technology strategy and lifecycle management by developing technology roadmaps, evaluating solutions, coordinating migrations, and analyzing capacity and performance. \n
Drive operational excellence through automation, documentation, production support, troubleshooting, and collaboration with engineering and operations teams. \n

Requirements

10+ years of experience working with enterprise mainframe applications, including direct experience with AMTrust/AMAdministrator or comparable mainframe accounting systems. \n
Strong hands-on experience with COBOL, CICS, SAS, IBM MVS z/OS, TSO, and MQ. \n
Experience designing, developing, testing, and supporting complex mainframe applications in an enterprise environment. \n
Strong understanding of software development methodologies, functional software design, test-driven development, code quality standards, and development best practices. \n
Experience with Git and GitHub, software change management, development tools, and file transfer technologies such as FTP.
