Job description
The Network Engineer serves as the technical subject matter expert directing our Managed Service Provider (MSP)-evaluating infrastructure, maintaining architecture standards, and overseeing project execution. In tandem with vendor oversight, this position provides hands-on routing, switching, and wireless support, performs network redesigns, and delivers Tier 1/2 incident resolution for operational technology and end-user devices., Lead network design for warehouse and distribution environments across LAN, WAN, enterprise wireless, network segmentation, and site connectivity.
Develop and maintain network architecture standards, reference designs, low-level design (LLD) documentation, logical network diagrams, and policy changes.
Evaluate environment performance to redesign, configure, and optimize network topology, capacity, and security.
Perform wireless planning, heatmapping, and validation-including coverage, capacity, roaming, and access point placement optimized for warehouse logistics.
Direct, audit, and validate third-party MSP deliverables, firewall policy changes, maintenance windows, and post-change implementations.
Serve as a primary technical escalation point for network issues across local and nationwide facilities.
Configure, optimize, and troubleshoot enterprise routers, switches, firewalls, and network access control systems.
Diagnose complex connectivity issues spanning DHCP/DNS, VLAN assignments, SSID associations, Cisco ISE / 802.1X authentication, interface errors, and port configurations.
Participate in a scheduled monthly after-hours on-call rotation supporting nationwide infrastructure.
Support and configure specialized operational technology, including mobile handheld scanners, PDAs, thermal label printers, thin clients, security cameras, and wireless endpoints.
Provide clear, responsive technical assistance to non-technical warehouse personnel, translating technical requirements into simple operational guidance.
Maintain inventory diagrams, provider circuit details, and lifecycle tracking for network hardware across all sites.
Requirements
Degree/Diploma: Bachelor’s degree in Network Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

Experience: 7+ years of hands-on enterprise networking, troubleshooting, and multi-site administration experience.

Certifications: Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) required.

Expert-level familiarity with Cisco switches and routers; experience with enterprise firewall platforms (e.g., Palo Alto, Fortinet, Meraki) is highly preferred.

Strong experience designing and troubleshooting high-density enterprise wireless environments.

Proficiency with Cisco ISE / NAC, 802.1X authentication, VLAN segmentation, Zero Trust concepts, DHCP, and DNS.

Hands-on experience with ticketing systems (ServiceNow, JIRA), network monitoring tools (SolarWinds, Command Prompt, PowerShell), and basic SQL queries.

Experience supporting Arista EOS (plus), CyberArk, remote desktop access, and terminal hardware.

Solid understanding of ITIL workflows, change management, and structured post-change verification.

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills, with a proven ability to translate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Technical authority to audit, direct, and hold third-party service providers accountable to strict network standards.

Structured troubleshooting approach to isolate root causes rapidly across endpoints, network layers, and applications.

Ability to operate calmly and decisively in dynamic environments without standard operational playbooks.
