Job description

As a Web Developer II at GAMA-1 Technologies, you’ll own the full lifecycle of web applications and websites, from custom WordPress themes and plugins to cloud-hosted applications on platforms like AWS and Azure in a remote work environment. This mid-level role gives you room to work across the stack: building clean, responsive front ends, integrating back-end services and databases, and shaping how our web solutions are architected, deployed, and secured. You’ll have the independence to take ownership of your work and the chance to collaborate with cross-functional teams who rely on your expertise. You’ll also help set the standard for development best practices across our web portfolio. Success in this role means our sites and applications are fast, secure, and reliable, and they scale smoothly as needs grow. It also means you’re the go-to person teammates trust to turn requirements into well-built solutions and to bring forward new ideas that keep our web presence modern. Requirements: What You Will Do in This Role The Web Developer II designs, builds, secures, and maintains WordPress sites and cloud-hosted web applications. The work spans front-end layouts, back-end integrations, testing, documentation, and performance monitoring. Responsibilities include:

  • Write well-designed, testable, and efficient code by using best software development practices
  • Create website layouts and user interfaces using standard HTML/CSS practices, including custom WordPress themes, child themes, and block (Gutenberg) templates
  • Document technical factors such as server load, bandwidth, database performance, and browser and device types
  • Integrate data from various back-end services and databases
  • Gather and refine specifications and requirements based on technical needs, and create and maintain software documentation
  • Perform Web site tests according to planned schedules, or after any product revision
  • Maintain, expand, and scale sites and applications hosted in cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure), including monitoring performance, availability, and cost
  • Develop, configure, and administer WordPress sites, including custom plugin development, WordPress REST API integrations, and routine core, theme, and plugin updates
  • Design and implement Web site security measures, such as firewalls, message encryption, cloud identity and access management, and WordPress hardening
  • Evaluate code to ensure that it is valid, is properly structured, meets industry standards, and is compatible with browsers, devices, or operating system
  • Create Web models or prototypes that include physical, interface, logical, or data models
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies/industry trends and apply them into operations and activities
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 4 years of experience developing web applications
  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and experience with modern front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js)
  • Experience with back-end development using technologies like Node.js, PHP, Ruby on Rails, or Python, and familiarity with RESTful APIs and server-side rendering
  • Hands-on experience developing and maintaining WordPress sites, including custom theme and plugin development using PHP, WordPress hooks (actions and filters), and the WordPress REST API
  • Experience deploying, hosting, and managing web applications on a major cloud platform (AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud), including compute, storage, content delivery (CDN), and managed database services
  • Strong experience with version control systems, particularly Git and GitHub or GitLab
  • Experience with responsive web design and mobile-first development principles
  • Understanding of SEO best practices and how to implement them in web development
  • Experience with database management systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB) and integrating web applications with databases
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot both front-end and back-end issues
  • Knowledge of web security principles and how to implement secure web applications

Work authorization/security clearance requirements

  • Ability to obtain a security clearance., * Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s and client facilities.

Travel Required

  • May be required on an as-needed basis.
