Job description
The Senior Full Stack Software Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, deploying, and maintaining software applications and products that meet customer needs., This role is involved throughout the full software development lifecycle, including software architecture, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing optimization. The engineer will work across the full technology stack, including user interfaces, back-end services, APIs, and microservices., * Engage directly with customers to understand their use cases, pain points, and requirements, advocating for user-centric software solutions.
- Solve complex technical problems by designing, developing, and delivering solutions using appropriate tools, languages, frameworks, methodologies, and technologies.
- Assess application and service requirements to determine the appropriate technology stack, integration methods, and deployment strategy.
- Create high-level software designs outlining overall application structure, components, and interfaces.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product owners, designers, architects, and other stakeholders.
- Define and implement software testing strategies, guidelines, policies, and processes aligned with organizational standards, industry regulations, and market best practices.
- Continuously improve application performance, optimize existing solutions, and implement new technologies to increase development efficiency.
- Apply modern programming practices, including test-driven development, continuous integration, and continuous delivery.
- Support security practices designed to safeguard user data, including encryption and anonymization.
- Create user-friendly and interactive interfaces.
- Develop and maintain back-end applications, including APIs and microservices, using server-side technologies.
- Evaluate and incorporate emerging technologies and capabilities into solutions while monitoring advancements across new technology stack layers and participating in industry collaboration.

- Mainframe systems, * 6+ years of professional software development experience, specifically developing full-stack applications using:
- Java
- Spring Boot
- Angular
- APIs
- Google Cloud Platform platforms
- Experience setting up, managing, and streamlining Google Cloud Platform environments.
- Experience setting up and managing Tekton pipelines.
- Experience implementing CI/CD practices.
- Experience with project management tools such as JIRA or Rally for task management and Agile delivery.
- Strong, detailed testing experience with a significant focus on quality delivery.
- Proven ability to learn business processes, understand business needs, diagnose problems or enhancement opportunities, and independently develop complete solutions.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with automated testing tools such as Selenium and Playwright.
- Experience with platform/security tools such as FOSSA and Cycode.
- Good understanding of logging and monitoring tools such as Splunk and Dynatrace.
- Experience using AI tools to assist with general software development tasks and functions, including GitHub Copilot and LLMs.
- Previous Ford experience and knowledge of Ford IT security policies and requirements is a plus.
- Previous mainframe experience with COBOL, JCL, or related technologies is a plus, but not required.

- Hybrid: 4 days per week onsite in Dearborn and 1 day per week working from home.
- Fully remote is not an option.
- Candidates must be located in or near the Metro Detroit area and able to begin commuting to Dearborn by their start date.
