Job description
We’re seeking an experienced Senior Analyst - Integrated Modelling / Modelling Architecture to play a key role in shaping and building the next generation of whole energy system forecasting capabilities.
This is not a traditional modelling role focused solely on creating forecasts or running established models. Instead, you’ll be responsible for helping design and implement the underlying architecture that enables multiple forecasting and simulation models to operate as an integrated system.
You’ll work at the intersection of energy systems modelling, software development, platform design, and technical architecture, helping establish a scalable modelling environment capable of supporting complex energy system decision-making.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Design and develop an integrated modelling architecture from the ground up.
- Connect multiple forecasting, simulation and analytical models into a cohesive ecosystem.
- Build frameworks that enable models to exchange data and interact effectively.
- Develop and maintain Python-based modelling solutions and workflows.
- Help define the technical platform and infrastructure required to support integrated modelling.
- Collaborate with analysts, data scientists, modellers and technical stakeholders.
- Drive best practice in model development, integration, automation and governance.
- Support the evolution of whole energy system forecasting capabilities.
What We’re Looking For
We’re particularly interested in candidates who have previously:
- Designed or implemented modelling architecture and frameworks.
- Built integrated modelling environments from scratch.
- Connected previously separate models into a unified platform.
- Developed solutions enabling data exchange and communication between models.
- Created modelling capability, infrastructure or tooling rather than simply operating existing models.
- Worked with complex forecasting, simulation or energy system models.
- Played a leading role in technical modelling transformation programmes.
- Written production-quality code as part of modelling solutions.
Requirements
- Strong hands-on Python development experience.
- Experience designing and implementing integrated modelling solutions.
- Knowledge of model orchestration, workflow design and system integration.
- Experience building modelling platforms, frameworks or simulation environments.
- Understanding of software engineering principles within scientific or analytical environments.
- Ability to work across technical and non-technical stakeholder groups.
- Excellent problem-solving and architecture design skills.
Highly Desirable
- Experience with Databricks.
- Energy systems, electricity, gas, utilities or renewables sector experience.
- Whole energy systems modelling experience.
- Scientific computing or simulation engineering background.
- Experience with cloud-based modelling environments.
- Forecasting, optimisation or decision-support modelling expertise.
