Job description
We are seeking an experienced Data & Analytics Architect to join a high-profile public sector programme. This role will play a key part in defining, designing and governing enterprise-scale data architecture solutions, enabling data-driven decision making and supporting the delivery of modern digital services across government.
The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, technical teams, delivery leads, and data professionals to establish strategic data architectures, analytics capabilities, and governance frameworks that align with government standards and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and maintain enterprise-level data and analytics architecture strategies.
- Design scalable and secure data platforms, data lakes, data warehouses, and analytical environments.
- Create and maintain data models, architecture artefacts, standards, and roadmaps.
- Ensure alignment with government data strategies, architecture principles, and security requirements.
- Lead architecture discussions across multiple programmes and delivery teams.
- Provide technical leadership on data management, data integration, analytics, reporting, and Business Intelligence solutions.
- Support the implementation of robust data governance, metadata management, and data quality frameworks.
- Collaborate with architects, developers, analysts, and stakeholders to deliver modern data solutions.
- Produce architecture documentation and present recommendations to senior stakeholders.
- Support assurance activities and architecture reviews throughout the project life cycle.
Requirements
- Proven experience operating as a Data Architect, Analytics Architect, or Enterprise Data Architect within large-scale organisations.
- Strong experience designing end-to-end data and analytics architectures.
- Expertise in data modelling, data integration, ETL/ELT pipelines, and master data management.
- Experience with cloud-based data platforms, particularly Azure, AWS, or GCP.
- Knowledge of modern analytics and BI technologies such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools.
- Strong understanding of data governance, data quality, lineage, and metadata management.
- Experience defining architecture standards, patterns, and best practices.
- Ability to engage with senior stakeholders and translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Strong documentation and communication skills.
Desirable Experience
- Previous experience working within UK Government, Central Government, or wider Public Sector organisations.
- Familiarity with the Government Digital Service (GDS) standards and ways of working.
- Experience working in agile, multidisciplinary delivery teams.
- Knowledge of AI, machine learning, and advanced analytics platforms.
- TOGAF, BCS, DAMA, or equivalent architecture certifications.
Clearance Requirements
- Active SC Clearance is essential.
- Candidates must be eligible to work on UK Government projects and meet all security requirements.
