The ideal candidate is a well-rounded IT PM who can take ownership of multiple initiatives, bring structure to projects in their early stages, coordinate resources, and actively contribute to getting projects completed. This is not strictly an administrative PM role. Candidates should have a solid technical understanding and be comfortable jumping in, solving problems, managing competing priorities, and working directly with technical teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage multiple IT projects and smaller initiatives from planning through completion.
- Establish project timelines, milestones, deliverables, and accountability.
- Coordinate internal teams, resources, vendors, and stakeholders.
- Take ownership of projects in early planning or implementation stages and drive them forward.
- Assist with technical documentation, policies, procedures, and process improvements.
- Track project risks, dependencies, outstanding tasks, and deliverables.
- Support IT compliance initiatives, including NIST 2.0 framework implementation.
- Review and organize compliance requirements, assign follow-up actions, and track completion.
- Create recurring tasks and workflows using tools such as Freshservice.
- Provide project updates and communicate progress to leadership.
Project Areas Projects may include:
- Cloud migrations and Microsoft SharePoint implementations.
- NIST 2.0 / cybersecurity compliance initiatives.
- Password manager implementation.
- Business Continuity Planning (BCP) and Continuity of Operations Planning (COOP).
- IT policy development and operational process improvements.
Requirements
- Mid-to-senior level experience as an IT Project Manager or Technical Project Manager.
- Experience managing multiple technical projects simultaneously.
- Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, cloud technologies, cybersecurity, or enterprise applications.
- Ability to understand technical requirements and work directly with technical teams.
- Hands-on approach with the ability to contribute beyond traditional project oversight.
- Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience working in a Microsoft technology environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with NIST, IT governance, risk, or compliance initiatives.
- Experience with SharePoint, Freshservice, or Microsoft cloud technologies.
- Background in business continuity or disaster recovery planning.
- Government or public-sector experience.
- PMP or other project management certification.
Ideal Candidate: Someone who can wear multiple hats, take ownership, bring organization to complex projects, and roll up their sleeves to help get things done. Government experience is a plus but not required.
