As the electrification of vehicles increases, Midtronics is right there working as a partner with OEMs, aftermarket support, and battery manufacturers to design tools that assist in battery management.

The Lead / Senior Android Software Engineer is part of the Midtronics Tool Software Team. The team is responsible for the design and development of software applications in all Midtronics product platforms, including electric vehicle service equipment, and automotive battery testers and chargers. The team collaborates with our customers to develop systems and tools that meet their battery management needs.

In this position, you will be responsible for the specification, design, and development of Android software applications for multiple products. You will work with our account teams and customers to understand customer needs, design solutions, and implement features and customizations to our Android software applications. An intense focus on delivering quality software and driving continuous improvement is a must., Architecture, design, development, and test of Android software applications for multiple products. Working with sales, marketing, and customers to create solutions and document product specifications, Identifying and implementing software enhancements that increase efficiencies and portability. Working as a member of a cross-functional project team in a Scrum model to deliver quality software releases.

Creating and maintaining automated tests in a constant integration environment. Providing technical support to account and customer service teams, and driving investigations into field issues. Creating and participating in continuous improvement initiatives and advancing product quality and performing root cause analysis of post-release software issues.

• Minimum of 7-10 years’ experience designing and implementing software applications
• Expertise in JAVA and/or Kotlin
• Excellent oral and written communications skills
• Experience collaborating with customers to develop product solutions that fit their needs
• Regularly exhibits drive and ownership of projects
• Can provide technical leadership and day to day coordination to a project team in a scrum process model
• Good visual design sense and creative drive
• Experience with developing applications running in an Android environment
• Experience creating Android applications deployed on custom hardware/OS a plus
• Experience with writing applications that interface to external devices over various protocols (CAN, Bluetooth, WiFi, TCP/IP, etc)
• Experience with source control systems such as GIT
• Familiarity with Jira, Crucible, BitBucket is preferred
• Published examples of mobile applications on the Android Marketplace a plus
• Experience doing embedded systems development a plus
