Job description
Join Hilton’s dynamic Digital Solutions team as an AWS Cloud Architect. Shape the future of data and AI-powered capabilities by designing and building next-generation AWS cloud platforms supporting analytics, digital products, and procurement innovation. This is a hands-on, hybrid opportunity (onsite 3x per week) in McLean, VA or Memphis, TN. The role is a 12-month contract with strong potential for extension., Architect and document scalable, secure AWS cloud database solutions for performance, availability, security, and cost-efficiency.
- Lead modernization and migration of legacy on-premises data platforms to AWS, focusing on reliability and compliance.
- Optimize data solutions utilizing AWS services such as Aurora, DynamoDB, Glue, Redshift, S3, Athena, and RDS.
- Define and implement database patterns for transactional, analytical, integration, and reporting workloads (OLTP, OLAP, Data Lake).
- Develop architecture standards, design decision records, playbooks, runbooks, and operational best practices.
- Ensure robust disaster recovery, security, governance, and compliance measures.
- Build migration plans, proof-of-concepts, cutover strategies, and post-migration optimization.
- Collaborate with security and governance partners to implement encryption, IAM, auditing, and access controls.
- Drive performance tuning, capacity planning, query optimization, and observability for cloud data platforms.
- Promote automation, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, and repeatable deployment practices.
- Create dashboards and metrics for platform monitoring, cost, reliability, and usage.
- Partner with business, data engineering, integration, analytics, and reporting teams to translate requirements into scalable solutions.
- Review vendor and partner architectures, providing expert recommendations.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies supporting AI and cloud modernization initiatives.
Requirements
3+ years hands-on experience architecting AWS databases and data platforms (Aurora, DynamoDB, Glue, RDS, Redshift, S3, Athena).
- Proven record of migrating and modernizing legacy data platforms to AWS.
- Deep knowledge of database patterns (OLTP, OLAP, Data Lakes), security, governance, and cost optimization.
- Strong skills in performance tuning, query optimization, data modeling, and automation (infrastructure as code, CI/CD).
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- US work authorization required (no sponsorship available).
Preferred Skills
- Experience with AI-powered data products and platforms.
- AWS certifications.
- Familiarity with advanced AWS monitoring and security services., Word
