Job description
Join a high-impact team as a Solution Architect supporting a strategic, large-scale MediCal client environment. Drive the design and delivery of scalable, secure solution architectures that enable business transformation in a fast-paced, high-volume healthcare setting. This is your opportunity to lead and influence technology roadmaps, collaborate across business and IT, and play a pivotal role in critical state Medicare initiatives-all while enjoying flexible, remote work., Lead the creation of conceptual and logical architecture solutions for mission-critical initiatives, including portal interfaces and integrations.
- Develop comprehensive architectures encompassing software, hardware, communication flows, and integration points for both current and future needs.
- Translate complex business requirements into robust solution designs spanning applications, integrations, APIs, data flows, infrastructure, and security.
- Evaluate and define solution options for new capabilities, legacy enhancements, and hybrid environments.
- Partner with business and IT stakeholders to ensure architecture decisions align with business value and technical feasibility.
- Drive architecture decisions with Enterprise Architects, Engineering Leads, and delivery teams to ensure project success.
- Guide stakeholders through decision-making processes involving performance, resiliency, security, scalability, and delivery timelines.
- Anticipate and resolve non-functional requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical field.
- Minimum 10 years of total IT experience, including at least 5 years in solution architecture and software development or application architecture.
- Demonstrated experience with service-oriented and application-centric solutions in Claims, PBM, or Medicare environments-particularly with state projects or government healthcare programs.
- Expertise in solution architecture, cloud platforms (AWS or GCP), and microservices.
- Proven ability to design for new system builds, legacy modernization, and COTS/SaaS integrations.
- Strong command of modern application development (Java, Angular, React), API design (REST, SOAP, GraphQL), event-driven architecture (Kafka), and distributed integration patterns.
- Experience working in Agile/Lean and iterative delivery environments.
- Excellent collaboration, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to provide technical leadership and influence key decisions.
Preferred Skills
- Advanced degree in a relevant field.
- Experience supporting claims adjudication or high-volume transactional healthcare platforms.
- Familiarity with SAFe or TOGAF frameworks.
- Expertise in designing large-scale, high-availability systems.
- Background in cloud transformation and modernization initiatives.
- Prior experience with the client is a plus., Must-Haves (Concepts & Tools):* Solution Architecture Cloud experience AWS or GCP microservices* Claims/PBM/Medicare experience (1 of these at least)* State Medicare projects or similar
