Software Developer Lead

Join Apex Systems as a Senior Software Developer Lead, where you will guide a talented team working on advanced Mission Management and Mission Planning solutions. This position offers the chance to shape system outcomes, mentor others, and influence the trajectory of our technology initiatives in a collaborative, mentorship-driven environment., Lead and oversee software design, coding, testing (unit/integration/functional/system), and delivery to meet customer requirements and acceptance criteria

• Partner with stakeholders to translate system-level requirements into actionable software specifications and robust models
• Conduct and drive risk analyses, identify system issues, and proactively implement mitigation strategies throughout the software lifecycle
• Facilitate and lead code reviews ensuring alignment with standards and project requirements
• Monitor, review, and manage test completion, verification, and efficient resolution of software issues
• Track product and process status to ensure alignment with project plans and industry standards
• Mentor team members and foster knowledge-sharing to cultivate technical growth

At least 5 years of experience in Computer Science fundamentals, object-oriented design, and software patterns

• Expert-level proficiency in Java, C++, or Python for full stack development
• Demonstrated leadership in software projects or teams through the entire development lifecycle
• Ability to obtain and maintain an Active Top-Secret U.S. Security Clearance with SCI eligibility and successfully complete a CI Polygraph post-hire

Preferred Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related technical field
• Experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JS frameworks (REACT, Open Layers), Spring Framework, Hibernate, REST/Open API
• Familiarity with Agile or SAFe methodologies including User Stories, Sprints, and Release Planning
• Hands-on experience with TDD, DevSecOps, CI/CD, and tools such as Jenkins or GitLab CI
• Advanced knowledge of middleware technologies such as JMS, WebLogic; dependency management tools (Maven, Gradle, Git)
• Strong background in RDBMS (SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB) databases
• Experience developing or supporting space-based or ground-based systems
