Job description

As a Data Engineer in the global EHS&S data team, you’ll build and scale solutions to directly support Tesla’s Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security (EHS&S) goals. This includes end-to-end ownership of the data pipelines that feed one of the most viewed dashboards in Tesla, creating the data models and architecture for internal LLMs that support EHS&S specialists with classifying injury events and generating actions to prevent recurrences, and collaborating cross-functionally to power internal and external reporting (e.g., the Tesla Impact Report). A successful candidate is a hands-on engineer who thrives on solving complex problems, leading end-to-end projects with competing priorities, and is a team player with strong communication skills. What You’ll Do

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to frame and solve business challenges, identify key opportunities, and take ideas from design to production
  • Ensure safe, secure, compliant, documented, and trusted data by implementing high standards
  • Develop, manage, and optimize data pipelines, warehousing, orchestration, and overall end-to-end infrastructure
  • Create and refine dimensional data models that enable powerful reporting and analytics
  • Explore new tools, frameworks, and technologies to keep our data platform cutting-edge

Requirements

  • Professional experience in data engineering, data analytics, data modelling, and data management
  • Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Data Science, or equivalent experience
  • Open-minded, collaborative, and team-oriented attitude with the ability to think outside the box
  • Ability to effectively communicate concepts and strategies to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong organizational, planning, and project management skills to work independently and focused
  • Knowledgeable and comfortable in Git, Python, SQL and dbt, APIs, Data Orchestration (i.e., Airflow), Docker/Kubernetes, CI/CD, Data Quality (e.g., soda.io), and Modern Data Warehousing; experience with Power BI is a plus
  • Eagerness to learn about novel ways to make impact in the environmental, health, safety, and security domain; existing knowledge is a plus
