Join a dynamic engineering team in Orlando, FL, and play a pivotal role in delivering FAA Level D Full Flight Simulators for leading aviation customers. As a Flight Simulator Hardware Engineer, you will lead the design, integration, and deployment of advanced hardware systems that power immersive flight training experiences. This position offers the opportunity to collaborate with cross-functional experts, drive innovative solutions, and mentor engineering talent in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment., Lead end-to-end hardware design and development for flight simulator power, control, motion platform, visual display, and avionics systems.
- Oversee seamless integration of simulator hardware with building infrastructure, including HVAC, electrical, grounding, and fire/smoke monitoring.
- Guide and synchronize cross-functional hardware engineering teams to meet aggressive project schedules and milestones.
- Develop and approve detailed engineering drawings, layouts, and bills of materials using industry-standard tools (CREO, Windchill).
- Generate hardware architectures and system interface designs, ensuring alignment with customer requirements and system flow-downs.
- Conduct rigorous design reviews and issue formal design approvals or non-conformance reports via PLM tools.
- Apply hardware engineering processes in an Agile environment, supporting key technical reviews throughout the acquisition lifecycle (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR).
- Drive innovative solutions to complex technical challenges, ensuring compliance with program objectives and industry standards.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or related discipline.
- 15 years of experience in flight simulation hardware development.
- Demonstrated expertise in mechanical design engineering principles and industry practices.
- Proficiency in generating detailed drawings, ICDs, and hardware architectures using CREO.
- Experience building BOMs and creating comprehensive design documentation.
- Proven track record supporting cross-functional teams and major technical reviews.
- Hands-on experience applying hardware engineering in Agile development settings.
Preferred Skills
- Proficiency with Windchill, Catia, Zuken, Cameo.
- Strong knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (ASME Y14.5) and system-level tolerance analysis.
- Experience with modular open systems architectures and full motion simulators.
- Background in adapting hardware to climate control systems and fire/suppression infrastructure.
- Prior experience with rotary or fixed wing aircraft.
- Expertise in the integration and deployment of flight training systems.
