Job description

Torch Technologies is seeking a Cloud Simulation Integration Engineer based in Suffolk, VA or Huntsville, AL to bridge the gap between legacy joint training architectures and modern cloud environments. You will assist Engineering Leads in refactoring and deploying Joint Live, Virtual, and Constructive (JLVC) federation models, databases, and simulation engines into JWCC Azure.

As a Cloud Simulation Integration Engineer your duties will include the following, but are not limited to:

  • Rehost and validate modeling and simulation (M&S) applications into Azure Government virtual machines and container instances.
  • Configure distributed simulation protocols (e.g., DIS - Distributed Interactive Simulation, HLA - High Level Architecture) across cloud and hybrid network bridges.
  • Assist legacy system owners with database migration, storage optimization, and secure cross-boundary data transfer.
  • Troubleshoot runtime errors, network latency issues, and simulation synchronization bottlenecks during Joint Training Enterprise exercises.
  • Develop automated test harnesses to verify simulation federation stability post-deployment.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Modeling & Simulation, or related technical field (or equivalent work experience)
  • 5+ years of systems administration or software integration experience
  • Active Secret level DOW clearance
  • Strong dual-OS administration acumen across Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Windows Server environments.
  • Proficient with scripting languages (Bash, Python, or PowerShell) for troubleshooting, data conversion, and automated testing.
  • Solid understanding of TCP/UDP networking, multicast routing, and latency optimization across distributed environments.
  • Current DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level II certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+ CE).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex issues
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, * Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
  • Direct hands-on experience configuring Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS IEEE 1278) or High Level Architecture (HLA IEEE 1516) run-time infrastructures (RTIs).
  • Prior background supporting J7 JTSD tools, including Joint Live Virtual Constructive (JLVC) federation models (e.g., JSAF, MTWS, WARSIM, JCATS, or JTLS).
  • Experience executing “lift-and-shift” or refactoring legacy military simulation software into Microsoft Azure or AWS.
  • Experience with database migration tools,
  • Strong technical documentation, briefing, and reporting experience
