Job description
- Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to understand requirements, build trusted relationships, and translate business needs into solution architectures.
- Design secure, scalable, resilient, and cost-effective AWS cloud-native solutions aligned with enterprise architecture principles, technology standards, and strategic roadmaps.
- Work with engineering, technical lead, security, platform, and operations teams to support delivery using modern engineering practices and architectural best practice.
- Produce and maintain solution architecture artefacts, architecture decision records, and technical designs, and govern architectural integrity throughout the delivery lifecycle.
- Identify and manage architectural risks, technical debt, and technology trade-offs to support informed decisions and successful programme delivery.
- Help improve architecture standards, reusable patterns, governance, and cloud engineering practices across our organisation.
- Provide technical leadership, mentor architects and engineering teams, and foster collaboration, continuous learning, and architectural excellence.

Requirements
- Strong communication skills to build trust with stakeholders and influence decision-makers.
- Experience identifying architecturally significant requirements and designing solutions using modelling and diagramming techniques.
- Experience with AWS architecture patterns, including microservices, event-driven architectures, APIs, serverless computing, containers, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Robust understanding of event-driven architecture design, data products, microservices, and modern development techniques.
- Innovative approach to solving complex problems and willingness to challenge the status quo.
- Desirable: Proven experience designing and delivering secure, scalable, resilient AWS cloud-native solutions in complex enterprise environments.
- Desirable: Knowledge of authentication and authorisation protocols, including OpenID Connect (OIDC) and OAuth 2.0, and cloud security design principles.
- Desirable: Ability to balance strategic thinking with pragmatic decision-making when solving business and technology challenges.

You will join a team of solution and enterprise architects working to deliver high-quality digital platforms and technology that creates lasting business value. The role is permanent, full time at 35 hours per week, with a salary of £54,800-£73,250. It is hybrid in Cambridge, with 40-60% of time typically spent at the dedicated location; other flexible working arrangements and disability-related adjustments will be considered from the first day.
