Job description

I am currently recruiting for an Analytics Engineer to join a leading global organisation within their growing Data & Analytics function.

This is a hands-on role where you will take ownership of the modelled data layer, working with dbt and BigQuery to build the data products that underpin reporting, self-service analytics and data activation across the business.

You will work closely with Data Engineering, analysts and wider stakeholders, helping to evolve the data warehouse into a scalable global platform and shaping best practices around data modelling, quality and documentation.

The Role:

  • Design, build and maintain staging, mart and analytics models using dbt and BigQuery
  • Develop scalable data models supporting multiple regions and entities
  • Build and maintain data models powering Looker / LookML
  • Implement data quality through dbt testing, monitoring and alerting
  • Work with Data Engineering around upstream dependencies and data contracts
  • Maintain data lineage, documentation and metric definitions
  • Review SQL and dbt work and help improve modelling standards
  • Optimise query performance, costs and deployment workflows
  • Support the use of AI / LLM tools on top of well-modelled data

Requirements

  • 3+ years’ experience across Analytics Engineering, Data Engineering or BI Development
  • Strong SQL skills with experience building production data models
  • Hands-on experience with dbt, including models, tests, macros and documentation
  • Strong production experience with BigQuery
  • Experience using Python for data work and automation
  • Experience with Airflow or Cloud Composer
  • Strong understanding of dimensional data modelling
  • Experience with Looker / LookML or a similar BI platform
  • Good understanding of Git and modern data development practices

Desirable:

  • Wider GCP experience
  • Experience working with Kafka / event data
  • Experience migrating or restructuring data warehouses
  • Experience supporting global or multi-region data platforms
  • Interest in AI / LLM applications within data and analytics
