- Lead full stack development efforts across cloud-native and hybrid environments, contributing directly to architecture and code.
- Design, build, and maintain secure APIs and backend services with strong monitoring and logging practices.
- Develop engaging user interfaces using modern frameworks such as React or Angular.
- Support AWS-based infrastructure and related services, including serverless and containerized components.
- Help manage CI/CD pipelines and automate delivery processes to improve team efficiency and release quality.
- Own application operations and production readiness, including review and approval of changes before deployment.
- Partner with business, product, operations, and technology stakeholders to translate needs into technical solutions and delivery plans.
- Work with external platform vendors and internal teams to resolve issues, improve integrations, and enhance functionality.
- Provide technical direction, mentorship, and collaboration support to a distributed team across locations and time zones.
- Contribute to strategic initiatives that advance engineering excellence, scalability, and modernization efforts.
Requirements
- 15+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 5 years in a senior technical leadership role.
- Strong hands-on experience with full stack development using JavaScript, React or Angular, and one or more backend technologies such as Node.js, Java, .NET, or Python.
- Solid SQL skills and experience working with data-driven applications.
- Practical knowledge of AWS architecture and services such as Lambda, API Gateway, IAM, S3, CloudWatch, Glue, ECS, and RDS.
- Experience building and integrating APIs in production environments.
- Background with CI/CD tools and infrastructure automation, including Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Terraform, or CloudFormation.
- Experience with testing tools and frameworks such as Jest, Cypress, or Selenium.
- Ability to lead cross-functional delivery in a global, matrixed environment.
- Hands-on approach with strong problem-solving, communication, and ownership mindset.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in asset management, investment banking, or wealth management.
- Familiarity with front-office systems and workflows such as OMS, PMS, and risk platforms.
- Exposure to ETF platforms and fund lifecycle processes.
- Knowledge of Snowflake, event-driven architecture, or data engineering patterns.
- Experience supporting regulatory reporting, ESG data pipelines, or performance attribution systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Horizontal is committed to fostering an inclusive, respectful, and collaborative environment where different perspectives are valued. We welcome candidates who are excited to contribute to a culture of equity, belonging, and continuous learning.
