Test Automation Engineer

We are looking for 4 experienced Test Automation Engineers to join an agile technology environment supporting a large and complex Belgian public-sector organization. This is a long-term freelance consultancy assignment for professionals who are passionate about software quality, test automation and continuous improvement. You will work closely with developers, business analysts and other stakeholders within multidisciplinary Agile teams and will play an important role in building, maintaining and improving automated testing solutions., · Design, develop and maintain robust automated test scripts.

· Create, prepare and execute automated test scenarios.

· Perform API, integration, regression and end-to-end testing.

· Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.

· Work with development teams to embed quality and automation throughout the software development lifecycle.

· Analyse test results and identify defects, risks and quality issues.

· Document and report test results clearly to relevant stakeholders.

· Manage test data and support the preparation and maintenance of test environments.

· Work closely with developers, business analysts and other stakeholders within multidisciplinary Agile teams.

· Contribute to continuous improvement of test processes, automation frameworks and quality practices.

· Challenge existing approaches constructively and propose practical alternatives., This is a hybrid Brussels-based assignment. Candidates must be prepared to work approximately 50% on-site in Brussels. The remaining working time can be performed remotely, subject to the assignment’s operational requirements and team arrangements.

· Minimum 3 years of professional experience as a Test Automation Engineer.

· Strong hands-on experience with Test Automation and structured testing methodologies.

· Demonstrable experience with Agile Testing.

· Experience with Cucumber and Selenium, with Selenium version 4 or higher.

· Strong practical knowledge of Java within an object-oriented architecture.

· Experience with REST Assured, SoapUI, Postman and Swagger.

· Strong knowledge of Cucumber / Gherkin.

· Experience with TDD, ATDD and BDD.

· Experience with Exploratory Testing and Session-Based Testing.

· Broad understanding of the complete software testing lifecycle/process.

· Knowledge of ISTQB, TMap, STBox or a comparable structured testing framework.

· Good knowledge of Maven.

· Good knowledge of TestNG or JUnit.

· Strong SQL knowledge and experience with test data management.

· Knowledge of XPath, CSS Selectors and Regular Expressions.

· Experience with Git / GitLab.

· Experience working with Jira, Confluence and Xray.

· Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines.

· Good practical understanding of Kubernetes / containerized environments.

· Basic knowledge of Angular, particularly from a testing perspective.

· Willingness and ability to work approximately 50% from the Brussels office.

· Fluent French OR Dutch.

· Good working knowledge of English.

· Previous experience working in highly regulated or process-driven environments., The ideal candidate is an experienced Test Automation Engineer with at least three years of relevant professional experience, strong Java and Selenium expertise, excellent knowledge of modern automation and Agile testing practices, and the ability to operate effectively in a complex enterprise environment.

You should be equally comfortable writing automation code, analysing test results, working with APIs and CI/CD pipelines, collaborating with development teams and challenging existing testing approaches when improvements are possible.
