Job description

Insight Global is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, C++ Windows for a top medical device client. This hands-on senior engineer will design and develop Windows-based clinical software used in cardiac operating rooms and intensive care environments. The position will own complex software modules from design through release, modernize legacy components, improve real-time rendering capabilities, and resolve challenging issues across the application stack. The ideal candidate has deep modern C++, Win32, MFC, and Windows desktop development experience and can help elevate engineering standards through strong architecture, testing, code review, and technical mentorship. Prior medical device experience is preferred but not required. Design, develop, and maintain production C++ Windows software for clinical products Own new modules and major enhancements from requirements through release Develop user-interface, data-storage, and device-communication components Modernize legacy code and evolve rendering from GDI/GDI+ toward Direct2D Troubleshoot complex issues across UI, threading, communications, and data layers Conduct code reviews and improve testing, design quality, and documentation Partner with systems, testing, regulatory, and clinical stakeholders Mentor less-experienced engineers and serve as the team’s Windows C++ technical resource

Requirements

7+ years of professional C++ development experience, primarily building Windows desktop applications Advanced knowledge of modern C++, including C++14/17/20, STL, RAII, smart pointers, and multithreading Strong Win32 API and MFC experience Experience with Windows UI development, custom controls, and 2D rendering using GDI/GDI+ or Direct2D Proficiency with Visual Studio 2019 or newer, including native debugging and profiling Experience designing and owning modules or major features for a production Windows application C++ unit-testing experience using Google Test, Catch2, Microsoft Native Unit Test, or similar Experience with Git, structured code reviews, and technical documentation Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field or equivalent experience Plusses: Direct2D, DirectWrite, DirectX, or real-time data-rendering experience Experience developing software in medical devices, aerospace, automotive, or another regulated industry Familiarity with IEC 62304, ISO 14971, secure coding, or SBOM management Experience communicating with hardware through serial, USB, or TCP/IP Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, or Bamboo
