Job description
- Lead UX and UI design activities across the full product lifecycle.
- Create user journeys, service blueprints, wireframes, prototypes and high-fidelity designs.
- Apply User-Centred Design (UCD) principles to solve complex user and business challenges.
- Collaborate closely with technical and non-technical stakeholders across Defence and Government.
- Plan and facilitate workshops, design reviews and stakeholder engagement sessions.
- Conduct usability testing and iterate designs based on research findings.
- Ensure all designs meet accessibility standards and best practice.
- Contribute to and evolve design systems and reusable pattern libraries.
- Support AI-enabled product development through intuitive and explainable user experiences.
- Champion GDS standards and evidence-based design decision making.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a UX/UI Designer delivering complex digital products and services.
- Strong understanding of User-Centred Design (UCD) methodologies.
- Experience working to GDS Service Standard and Government Digital principles.
- Demonstrable experience delivering projects within Central Government.
- Excellent skills in Figma, prototyping and interaction design.
- Strong knowledge of accessibility and inclusive design standards.
- Experience working within Agile multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders.
- Active SC Clearance is essential.
Highly Desirable
- Current MOD DV Clearance.
- Previous experience delivering within the Defence sector.
- Experience working on AI, Data or Emerging Technology programmes.
- Knowledge of Defence Digital, MOD or wider National Security environments.
- Experience supporting Discovery, Alpha, Beta and Live phases.

| £600-£800 per day | Inside IR35 | 6 Months + Extensions | London (3 Days per Week) | SC Clearance Required |
