Java Developer

Experience: Minimum of Seven (7) Years’ experience with Java programming. Insurance or P&C experience preferred, with previous development of InsuranceNow strongly preferred., * Experience with Java, JavaScript, HTML, SQL Server, Spring Boot, and Git/Github. \n

• Experience with OutSystems, Jenkins, and Node.js is preferred. \n

• Experience with AWS is required; understanding of Lambda and Beanstalk strongly preferred. \n

• Experience with JUnit testing is required. \n

• Basic knowledge/understanding of UNIX is required. \n

• Object Oriented analysis and design using common design patterns. \n

• Understanding of integration services using SOAP and RESTful protocols. \n

• Understanding of agile software development methodologies. \n

• Strong verbal and written communication skills. \n

• Ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels of the organization. \n

• Ability to anticipate and resolve problems. \n

• Ability to work under time constraints and meet deadlines. \n

• Ability to work with minimal supervision.

• Provide high level estimates for development based on story points or other methods. \n

• Analyze business requirements and provides detailed estimates for development. \n

• Design web based java applications, screen scrapers, and API’s. \n

• Understand integration points with API’s from vendors such as Guidewire, ISO, Xactimate and credit card processors. \n

• Identify risks and roadblocks that could impact deadlines. \n

• Debug and solve complex issues within java applications. \n

• Conduct various proof of concepts on new technologies as necessary, and contribute to the creation and adaptation of IT architecture. \n

• Back up development and support functions for other business systems as necessary, including policy, billing, and claims. \n

• Deliver high quality code, and perform code reviews and walkthroughs. \n

• Conduct oversight of consultants when needed. \n

• In conjunction with the Production Support Team, provide system software support. \n

• Maintain a current understanding of technology and how it can enhance and offer a range of solutions for business partners. \n

• Create efficiencies that embrace the solution provider mindset, and that result in decreased time to market, improved quality, and enhanced flexibility. \n

• Work with senior developers to increase mastery of technical and IT knowledge. Contribute to IT processes that help improve work environment. \n

• Perform other duties as assigned. \n

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related field.
