Network & System Administrator

Assists the Technology Director in maintaining and ensuring the security and operation of district servers and networks., UNIVERSAL USD 250 CLASSIFIED STANDARDS: *Support the philosophy and mission of USD 250. *Support the value of education. *Comply with the privacy rights of students. *Safeguard confidential and/or sensitive information. *Communicate effectively with all members of the school district and community. *Provide excellence in customer service, both internally and externally. *Maintain accurate filing systems for technology functions. *Ensure that all activities conform to district guidelines. *React to change productively. *Keep abreast of new information, innovative ideas, and techniques. *Adhere to all district health and safety policies, including all precautions of the Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan., *Assists with installation, configuration, and maintenance of network and server hardware and software. *Monitors network resources to detect abuse or suspicious usage of network resources or servers. *Installs, updates, and supports the use of desktop application suites and other software. *Assists in providing training for individuals on computer operations and use of network services. *Assists in maintaining inventory of all district networking equipment. *Assists in the diagnosing and resolving network problems.

*Responds to district technology requests.

*Performs other delegated responsibilities as assigned.

*High school diploma or equivalent required. *Bachelor’s Degree in technology-related field or equivalent experience in server and network administration., *Experience with using and maintaining electronic equipment. *Experience with installing and testing standard network wiring and components. *Experience with setting up, installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and cleaning all types of mobile, desktop, server and networking hardware. *Familiar with Macintosh, Windows, and Linux server environments. *Experience with preserving the data integrity of hosted systems, data migration, and backups. *Experience in WLAN, LAN, WAN, Internet, and Intranet network design. *Experience with the use and maintenance of major desktop and mobile operating systems. *Experience with the use, installation, and maintenance of both real and virtual client and server operating systems, with an overall understanding of their appropriate uses. *Experience with managing standard e-mail and directory service systems.

GENERAL EXPECTATIONS: *Ability to work cooperatively with supervisors, co-workers, and students. *Ability to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions. *Ability to perform responsibilities without the necessity of close supervision. *Ability to meet attendance standards to perform the essential functions of the job. *Ability to maintain a generally positive attitude., *Level 3 - Medium Work *Exerting 20 - 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10-25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly. *Extended periods of sitting and/or standing. *Frequent stooping, bending, and reaching. *Must be able to adapt to a fast-paced, multi-faceted work environment. *Requires lifting, moving, carrying, pulling or pushing equipment weighing up to approximately 100 pounds. *Must have valid driver’s license.
