Job description
Shape how teams deliver infrastructure-as-code at scale with reusable, customer-friendly Terraform modules. Youâll build hands-on engineering solutions that make secure cloud database platforms easier to adopt and operate. Partner closely with application teams and security, risk, and compliance to create a paved road with strong guardrails and great developer experience. As we expand beyond AWS into GCP, youâll help define new patterns and raise the quality bar across the platform. If you love clean module design, automation, and scalable engineering practices, youâll thrive here., As a Multi-Cloud Platform Engineer, Terraform Modules (Database Platforms) in the Multi-Cloud Platform Engineering team, you will build and maintain reusable Terraform modules that internal customers use to deliver infrastructure-as-code at scale. Youâll focus on cloud database platform patterns (primarily AWS today, expanding to GCP), module interface design, automation, and developer experience. Youâll apply strong engineering fundamentals to improve quality through testing, validations, and observability-minded practices. Youâll work with partner teams to translate real customer needs into composable, well-documented modules with sane defaults and guardrails., * Design, build, and maintain production-grade Terraform modules for cloud database platforms
- Define clear module interfaces (inputs/outputs), versioning approaches, and backwards-compatible upgrade paths
- Build automation and tooling around infrastructure-as-code workflows (scaffolding, validations, linting, configuration generation, and integration utilities)
- Develop clean, testable Python utilities to improve module correctness, developer workflow, and operational efficiency
- Implement Git-based engineering practices, including code reviews, release management, and continuous integration and delivery for Terraform
- Integrate security, policy checks, and guardrails into module and pipeline workflows, partnering with security, risk, and compliance on exceptions where needed
- Produce high-quality module documentation, examples, and adoption guidance that reduce friction for internal customers
- Partner with application teams to translate requirements into reusable module patterns and durable abstractions
- Improve reliability and operability of database platform modules by incorporating testing strategies and operational considerations
- Contribute to roadmap planning and expansion of module coverage and patterns into GCP
Requirements
- Advanced Terraform expertise building reusable, production-grade modules, including inputs/outputs, documentation, and composability
- Experience applying infrastructure-as-code engineering practices, including Git workflows, code reviews, and automated validations
- Proficiency building automation/tooling around infrastructure-as-code, including writing clean, testable Python code
- Strong software engineering fundamentals, including modular design, debugging, unit/integration testing, and secure coding practices
- Hands-on AWS platform experience with emphasis on database services and common patterns (RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB concepts, ElastiCache concepts, and graph database concepts)
- Working knowledge of networking and security fundamentals, including VPC/subnets, security groups, routing, encryption with KMS, identity and access management, and secrets handling
- Exposure to GCP infrastructure-as-code patterns, including Terraform provider usage, state, and core platform concepts
- Ability to design âpaved roadâ developer experiences, including guardrails, sane defaults, and clear examples for adopters
- Ability to partner effectively with security, risk, and compliance stakeholders to implement guardrails and exception workflows
- Ability to collaborate with application teams to turn requirements into reusable module interfaces and patterns, * Experience with Terraform testing and quality tooling (for example, Terratest, linting, scanning, pre-commit, and policy-as-code concepts)
- Familiarity with Terraform state management patterns, including remote state, workspace or stack separation, drift detection, and migration strategies
- Experience building standardized âgolden moduleâ frameworks (tagging/labels, naming conventions, lifecycle controls, and upgrade guidance)
- Experience building continuous integration and delivery pipelines and publishing artifacts to internal registries
- Familiarity with containers and orchestration (Docker/Kubernetes) where modules integrate with application platforms
- Practical operational knowledge for database platforms (backup/restore, high availability/disaster recovery, performance tuning basics, patching, and maintenance windows)
- Experience with Go for platform tooling
