Job description

  • We are seeking an experienced Solutions Architect to design, develop, and oversee secure, scalable, and resilient technology solutions supporting the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) mission.
  • The Solutions Architect will work closely with government stakeholders, program managers, engineers, cybersecurity teams, infrastructure teams, and application development teams to translate mission and business requirements into comprehensive technical architectures.
  • The role will ensure that proposed solutions align with federal security requirements, enterprise architecture standards, cloud strategies, and operational objectives., * Develop end-to-end solution architectures for complex enterprise applications, platforms, integrations, and infrastructure environments.
  • Translate business and mission requirements into technical architecture, solution designs, and implementation roadmaps.
  • Collaborate with TSA/DHS stakeholders to understand operational needs, technical constraints, and mission priorities.
  • Design secure, highly available, scalable, and resilient solutions across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments.
  • Develop architecture artifacts including solution architecture documents, system context diagrams, data-flow diagrams, integration designs, and technical roadmaps.
  • Evaluate and recommend technologies, platforms, frameworks, and architectural patterns appropriate for federal environments.
  • Design API-driven, event-driven, microservices, and enterprise integration solutions where appropriate.
  • Work with cybersecurity teams to incorporate security controls, identity and access management, encryption, logging, monitoring, and zero-trust principles into solution designs.
  • Ensure architectures support applicable DHS/TSA policies, federal standards, security requirements, and compliance obligations.
  • Collaborate with DevSecOps teams to integrate architecture principles into CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, automated testing, and deployment processes.
  • Partner with infrastructure and cloud engineering teams to develop scalable compute, storage, networking, and platform architectures.
  • Define integration patterns for enterprise systems, databases, APIs, messaging platforms, and external services.
  • Conduct technical assessments, architecture reviews, proof-of-concepts, and technology evaluations.
  • Identify technical risks, dependencies, constraints, and opportunities and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Provide technical leadership throughout solution implementation, testing, deployment, and transition to operations.
  • Support modernization initiatives, legacy system transformation, cloud migration, application rationalization, and technology consolidation.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical government stakeholders.
  • Support technical proposals, engineering estimates, implementation plans, and responses to government requirements and statements of work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline; equivalent professional experience may be considered.
  • 8+ years of experience in solution architecture, enterprise architecture, systems engineering, software architecture, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and implementing enterprise-scale technology solutions.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise integration, APIs, databases, networking, application architecture, and distributed systems.
  • Experience with modern architecture patterns including microservices, containerization, APIs, event-driven architectures, and cloud-native technologies.
  • Experience working with cybersecurity and compliance requirements in enterprise or government environments.
  • Strong understanding of SDLC, Agile methodologies, DevSecOps, and CI/CD practices.
  • Experience creating architecture diagrams and technical documentation using tools such as Visio, Lucidchart, Draw.io, or similar.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder-management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a highly regulated, mission-critical environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting DHS, TSA, CBP, USCIS, CISA, or other federal agencies.
  • Experience with federal enterprise architecture and government IT modernization programs.
  • Familiarity with NIST, FISMA, FedRAMP, Zero Trust Architecture, RMF, and federal cybersecurity requirements.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, Ansible, or other infrastructure/cloud automation technologies.
  • Experience with identity and access management technologies and standards such as OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, SAML, and PKI.
  • Knowledge of enterprise integration technologies, API gateways, message brokers, and data platforms.
  • Experience with observability, SIEM, monitoring, logging, and security operations technologies.
  • Relevant certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect, CISSP, TOGAF, or similar.
  • Prior experience working in environments requiring a U.S. government security clearance.
