Job description

An EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) Analyst manages the electronic exchange of business documents-such as purchase orders, invoices, shipping notices, and acknowledgments-between a company and its customers, suppliers, logistics partners, or other systems., The EDI Analyst is responsible for implementing, monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining EDI integrations between internal business systems and external trading partners. The role involves working with EDI transactions, mapping, data validation, issue resolution, and coordination with IT, business teams, and partners., * Monitor daily EDI transactions and resolve transmission or processing errors.

  • Support EDI integrations between ERP systems and external trading partners.
  • Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot EDI maps and partner-specific requirements.
  • Work with common EDI transaction sets such as:
  • 850 - Purchase Order
  • 855 - Purchase Order Acknowledgment
  • 856 - Advance Shipping Notice
  • 810 - Invoice
  • 940 - Warehouse Shipping Order
  • 945 - Warehouse Shipping Advice
  • 997/999 - Functional Acknowledgment
  • Analyze inbound and outbound EDI data to identify mapping, formatting, and business-rule errors.
  • Coordinate with customers, vendors, suppliers, and third-party EDI providers to resolve issues.
  • Perform EDI testing for new partners, transaction types, and system changes.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, mapping specifications, and partner profiles.
  • Investigate production incidents and perform root-cause analysis.
  • Validate data flow between EDI platforms, middleware, and ERP applications.
  • Support EDI implementations, upgrades, migrations, and new trading-partner onboarding.
  • Collaborate with developers and integration teams on complex technical issues.
  • Monitor system interfaces and ensure timely processing of transactions.
  • Participate in UAT, integration testing, and deployment activities.

Requirements

  • Understanding of EDI standards, particularly X12 and/or EDIFACT.
  • Knowledge of EDI transaction sets and business processes.
  • Experience with EDI mapping and translation.
  • Understanding of XML, JSON, CSV, flat files, and data transformation.
  • Knowledge of APIs, FTP/SFTP, AS2, and other integration protocols.
  • Experience troubleshooting EDI failures and data discrepancies.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Good communication and documentation skills.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with EDI platforms such as IBM Sterling, Cleo, OpenText, Boomi, MuleSoft, SPS Commerce, or similar platforms.
  • SQL knowledge for data investigation and validation.
  • Experience with retail, manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, or supply-chain EDI.
  • Knowledge of APIs and middleware/integration technologies.
  • Experience supporting high-volume production EDI environments.

Typical Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
  • Typically 2-5 years of experience in EDI, B2B integration, application support, or related roles.
