Job description
We are seeking a hands-on BMC Remedy ITSM Systems Engineer to design, build, secure, and operate an enterprise IT Service Management (ITSM) platform. This role is responsible for the BMC Remedy AR System application stack and related integrations, including Smart IT, Digital Workplace, Atrium CMDB, and reporting solutions. The successful candidate will ensure platform availability, performance, security compliance, and an excellent user experience across incident, problem, change, request, and asset management functions. This position plays a critical role in supporting mission readiness and service reliability by driving upgrades, migrations, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives., * Administer, configure, and customize BMC Remedy AR System 9.1 and ITSM modules, including Incident, Problem, Change, Request, Knowledge, and Asset Management.
- Plan and execute upgrades, patches, migrations, and schema changes while minimizing downtime.
- Maintain and optimize Smart IT, Digital Workplace, and Atrium CMDB environments.
- Design, develop, and maintain integrations using REST/SOAP APIs, AR filters, active links, escalations, and job schedulers.
- Integrate the ITSM platform with enterprise tools such as ServiceNow, Splunk, Dynatrace, Elastic, Sentinel, and related monitoring solutions.
- Automate administrative tasks, deployments, and workflows using Python and/or PowerShell.
- Monitor system performance, capacity, SLAs, and OLAs while performing tuning and optimization activities.
- Maintain compliance with RMF, ATO, FedRAMP, DoD, and STIG requirements.
- Provide Tier 3 support and serve as the escalation point for complex Remedy-related issues.
- Create and maintain architecture documentation, SOPs, disaster recovery procedures, and training materials.
- Mentor administrators and support knowledge-sharing initiatives.
- Collaborate with Service Owners, Security Operations, and Network/Cloud teams to align the platform with ITIL best practices., * Support a planned SolarWinds upgrade and refresh initiative scheduled to begin in the coming months.
- Ensure the stability, modernization, and continued performance of a mission-critical ITSM environment.
Requirements
- 5+ years of Systems Engineering or Enterprise Application Administration experience.
- 3+ years of hands-on administration and configuration of BMC Remedy AR System 9.1.

- CASP Certification
- CISSP Certification, * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience., * Experience building and maintaining integrations using REST and SOAP APIs, AR filters, active links, and job schedulers.
- Experience configuring and optimizing Smart IT and Digital Workplace.
- Familiarity with monitoring and observability practices that enable proactive operations and incident response.
- Ability to create architecture diagrams, SOPs, disaster recovery plans, and technical documentation.
- Experience mentoring junior administrators and delivering training sessions.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability and willingness to travel OCONUS up to three times annually, typically for one to three weeks per trip.
About the company
- Located at NIWC Pacific Old Town Campus in San Diego, CA.
- Hybrid work model with a minimum of two days per week onsite; additional onsite support may be required based on client needs.
- OCONUS travel may be required up to approximately three times per year, typically for durations of one to three weeks.
- Work within a secure, highly regulated environment aligned with FedRAMP, DoD, RMF, and STIG requirements.
- Support technologies including BMC Remedy AR System 9.1, Smart IT, Digital Workplace, Atrium CMDB, Helix Discovery (ADDM), TrueSight Operations, BladeLogic IT Automation, and enterprise integrations.
- Operate in a professional government-contractor environment emphasizing security, compliance, documentation, automation, and operational excellence.
