Job description

We are seeking a junior-to-mid level Software Engineer who enjoys building practical applications, automating manual processes, and using modern AI tools to become a more productive developer.

This is not an AI/ML engineering or data science position. You will not be expected to train machine-learning models or build complex AI infrastructure.

Instead, we are looking for a strong software developer who knows how to effectively use tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, ChatGPT, Claude, or similar AI-assisted development tools to accelerate coding, debugging, testing, documentation, and application development.

You will work closely with business and technology teams to turn real operational problems into working software solutions. Projects may include internal applications, workflow automations, API integrations, dashboards, reporting tools, and AI-assisted business processes.

What You’ll Do

  • Build and maintain internal applications, tools, dashboards, and workflow automations.
  • Develop solutions using Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, or similar modern programming languages.
  • Work with relational databases and write SQL queries to retrieve, join, transform, and analyze business data.
  • Integrate internal platforms and third-party systems through REST APIs and other integrations.
  • Identify repetitive or manual business processes and build software solutions to improve efficiency.
  • Use AI-assisted coding tools to accelerate development while reviewing, validating, and maintaining the quality of generated code.
  • Assist with integrating practical AI capabilities into existing applications and workflows when appropriate.
  • Build prototypes, gather feedback from users, and turn successful concepts into reliable applications.
  • Work with cloud environments such as AWS or Azure.
  • Participate in source control, code reviews, CI/CD, testing, and deployment processes.
  • Document applications and workflows so they can be maintained and supported.
  • Work with business stakeholders to translate loosely defined requirements into practical technical solutions.
  • Follow appropriate security, privacy, and data-handling practices in a regulated environment.

Requirements

  • Approximately 2-5 years of professional software development experience preferred.
  • Hands-on development experience with Python, JavaScript, and/or TypeScript.
  • Strong working knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
  • Experience building or consuming REST APIs and integrating different systems.
  • Experience developing internal applications, business tools, workflow automations, or similar software solutions.
  • Experience using Git or another version-control platform.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and modern software-development practices.
  • Exposure to AWS, Azure, or another cloud platform.
  • Experience using AI development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, ChatGPT, Claude, or similar platforms as part of your development workflow.
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems independently and learn unfamiliar systems quickly.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to Have

  • Experience building software within financial services, healthcare, insurance, collections, legal, or another regulated industry.
  • Experience with ETL, data pipelines, reporting automation, or data integrations.
  • Experience incorporating an LLM or generative-AI API into an application or workflow.
  • Familiarity with security, privacy, compliance, or SOC 2 concepts.
