Job description

This position will support a wide variety of projects and clients throughout the United States. This position may support a variety of contracts, including federal, state, and commercial clients.

This position functions as subject-matter expert on environmental GIS and data management, providing high-level technical guidance and support on tasks including geospatial and environmental database management; data analysis and reporting including statistical analysis, interpolation, and raster algebra; data and web system architecture; environmental data collection with a focus on surveying and 3D-point cloud data acquisition; and environmental data visualization, including static and interactive web-based solutions.

Essential Job Functions

  • Support environmental projects and task orders including site investigations, regulatory compliance activities, and remedial actions.
  • Support the management/administration of enterprise GIS environments.
  • Interpret environmental data, including performing complex geostatistical analyses such as spatial interpolation, raster algebra.
  • Develop data visualization products in both static and web-based interactive solutions, with a focus on Esri applications.
  • Support development and maintenance of environment data management workflows, including data architecture/workflow design.
  • Support field data collection activities, including surveying and 3D point cloud data acquisition and processing.
  • Communicate and interact with project clients, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Support the development and implementation of environmental plans and procedures.
  • Develop and/or deliver training, planning, and preparedness efforts under federal and state contracts.
  • Assist in supporting emergency preparedness and response and disaster recovery activities, including potential support within an incident management structure or as a technical subject matter resource.
  • Prepare technical report deliverables, including data evaluation, interpretation, and presentation.
  • Mentor junior staff., * Role responsibilities may include project site visits and field work up to approximately 10%, which could include overnight travel.
  • Site work may be completed outdoors within the U.S. during all seasons, including peak summer and winter conditions., * This part-time position requires approximately 10% travel.
  • This position will mostly consist of a hybrid schedule, with office and remote work flexibility.
  • Work will occur during standard work hours, with the potential to occasionally support emergency response activities during nights/weekends.
  • Driving on an occasional basis. Passing a motor vehicle record background check and maintaining a valid driver’s license and good driving record is required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience.
  • Extensive experience with Esri’s ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and Enterprise (Portal for ArcGIS, ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Datastore, ArcGIS GeoEvent Server, ArcGIS Spatiotemporal Datastore).
  • Extensive experience developing data visualization products, including static products using ArcGIS Pro or similar software, and interactive web-based products using ArcGIS Online and Portal for ArcGIS.
  • Experience designing/evaluating environmental data management workflows, including use of common environmental software and underlying applications (Scribe, EQuIS, SQL Server).
  • Detailed knowledge of surveying techniques and technology, including the collection and processing of 3D point cloud datasets.
  • Must possess strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills (both written and verbal). Must also be highly motivated, customer focused, and work well in a team environment.

In addition, the following is required:

  • Passing a criminal background check.
  • Driving on a regular basis. Passing a motor vehicle record background check and maintaining a valid driver’s license and good driving record is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER and 8-Hour refresher certifications.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to walk around project sites in all types of terrain and be physically able to carry up to 35 pounds of equipment.
  • Must be able to complete medical monitoring program.

The rate of pay for this position is $90 - $110 per hour, depending on education, experience, skills, and location.
