Job description

We are hiring a Software Developer to support the Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Weapon System (GWS) Fire Control (GFC) Battle Manager software team supporting the U.S. missile defense mission and Missile Defense Agency (MDA). This role requires an active DoD Secret clearance and software development experience with Ada, C++, or Java, along with MATLAB, Python, Unix/Linux, and a strong foundation in mathematics and physics.

The Software Developer will develop, maintain, implement, and test complex GFC software capabilities and algorithms. This role also supports software requirements and test case reviews for mathematics- and physics-based solutions within a highly visible DoD missile defense environment., * Develop and maintain software supporting the GMD Weapon System Fire Control Battle Manager.

  • Implement and test new and existing GFC software capabilities and algorithms.
  • Develop complex mathematics- and physics-based software solutions supporting missile defense capabilities.
  • Collaborate with the software team to analyze technical requirements and translate them into software implementations.
  • Review software requirements and test cases supporting GFC software development and verification.
  • Support software testing, analysis, troubleshooting, and validation activities.
  • Contribute to software development within a collaborative, Agile and DevSecOps-oriented engineering environment.

Requirements

U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law

  • Must possess an active Secret security clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university preferred.
  • 5 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree, 2 years with a master’s degree, or 1 year with a PhD; no more than 12 years of experience.
  • Recent software development experience using Ada, C++, or Java.
  • Willingness to become highly proficient in Ada software development.
  • Recent MATLAB and Python experience.
  • Experience working with Unix/Linux operating systems.
  • Strong background in mathematics and physics recommended.
  • Must be able to support an in-person, closed-area work environment and travel up to 10% based on business needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Experience developing software using Ada.
  • Advanced Linux, scripting, and system operations experience.
  • Experience with automated software requirements testing and analysis.
  • Experience supporting the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) program.
  • Experience with Agile project management tools, including Jira and Confluence.
  • Experience with DevSecOps tools and methods, including Jenkins, Ansible, Git/GitLab, continuous integration, continuous delivery/deployment, and CI/CD automation.
